The arse end of Hangleton
Both countries that need some support from the EU as they are backsliding democracies.

Back sliding because you don't support the democratic choice they took I assume ?

Ah, the old canard that only the Brexit boys are true democrats and patriots.

This. If we had wanted to be, we could have been at the forefront of Europe and at best leading them by the nose, at least one of the leading nations.

48% voted remain 52% voted leave we are leaving but of the 100% that voted I wonder how many had any idea it would lead to this we are being led by a tiny elitist right wing group David Davis, Liam Fox, Boris and Treasa May do not inspire me at all and the news from these negotiations is not filling me with any sence of well being I fear for the vast majority of us this is unlikely to end well.

My predictions before all this tarted are coming home

May is useless, I would offer them a take it or leave it deal as we do hold all the cards. who will be next out? Poland or Hungary?

Nobody is gonna be dumb enough to leave after the mess we end up with. Bankrupt and toxic is not a state most countries wish to be in. The UK will be an example of how not to do things.

Interesting to note that the thickest posters on this board are also the last Brexit voters to even bother trying to pretend it's gonna be fine

Radio 5 has a phone-in on this right now. First caller is complaining she can't understand what her cancer consultant was saying because the doc is foreign, and meanwhile a foreign person was overheard saying she has come to the UK so her husband can have her cancer treated. This caller also said that EU workers are picking fruit because employers (who were hinted as being foreign) refuse to employ Brits. The tragedy is that these ignorant lying morons have stolen the agenda, and clowns like Fox and Davies think that as long as they march into battle paying lip service to this agenda, all will be well. I am willing to bet money that throwing out all the europeans picking our fruit will not open up employment opportunities for the feckless loutish smelly locals I see milling about here during daytime, here.

A young and talented doctor I have been working with, a specialist and experimntalist (cream of the crop) is leaving London this month to take up a job in Canada. The reason is that the job here is now relatively underpaid, excessively beurocratic and staff are increasingly being treated like chess pieces in someone else's game. If young talented people with higher end jobs are leaving the UK because prospects (pay and employment conditions in relation to lifestyle and housing and schooling) are crap, where does that leave the rest of us? Stuck here with cretins who spend all their waking hours brooding about foreigners.... it is time people got their heads out of their arses and stopped acting like the 'offensive translator'....

Its going to be driven by economics, nobody will want to screw up a main trading partner as that will cause a trade war. The eu are in a bind, they will want to make it look bad as a deterrent without it actually being bad.

Dreamland please wake up. Cameron tried and returned with his tail between his legs. Queen Merkel will not relinquish any power to anybody else

I think what the previous poster means is if we had engaged when we joined, gained their trust, attended the committee meetings etc. Our way have dealing with the EU has for decades been like the way we deal with FIFA (just letting others get on with it, treating it with disdain, then periodically throwing toys out of pram when we don't get our way - no world cup in England, etc). Of course Cameron was shooed away. We have left it all too late. Anyway, we are leaving now so we will soon have our country back, and will be able to make up our own rules. We don't actually need to negociate anything, surely?

we could, but we have fundementally different views and objectives, so in constant conflict with the core EU leaders. therein lies the problem, they see free trade, single market etc as a means to the end of unified european state, we see free trade and single market as a end in itself. we dont want further political, economic, legal integration, they do; they say you must take it, so we're done.

The only bankrupt and toxic countries are in the EU.Greece,Italy,Spain,Portugal,to be joined by most of the ex Warsaw pact countries when we stop paying for them.
