Just a little thread to discuss the fates of those players on the fringe of the squad or those released at the end of last season.

Looking at the current squad, if we get in the CB and winger that Hughton wants, then we should assume that the following players will be outside the 25:

Skalak
Norwood
Towell
Baldock or Hemed

We know that Hull have bid for Skalak and Norwood as a pair, but haven't reached our valuation: http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/16368621.oliver-norwood-and-jiri-skalak-wanted-by-hull-city/ We can probably expect another bid, but I have no idea how much money Hull have to throw around (must still have parachute money?). Now that Fulham have been promoted it looks unlikely that Norwood will go there, seems destined for the Championship again.

Towell is wanted back at Rotherham after impressing there last season. However it seems wages may be a stumbling block. Rotherham are talking about another season loan, but his contract will run out at the end of this season and you would think the club would be trying to secure a permanent move and a fee. http://itsmillerstime.co.uk/signing...a-possibility-says-rotherham-boss-paul-warne/

As far as the strikers, it seems most likely that Baldock will be the one to leave, having attracted interest from Reading. Seems a real possibility of a player + cash deal with Liam Moore here, we shall see how this develops. http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/16360322.albion-striker-sam-baldock-could-make-amex-exit/ Reading were also interested in Hemed last summer, but no deal materialised as the Royals didn't match our valuation, and now Jaap Stam has left the club the targets have shifted.

As far as the released players:

Maenpaa is currently on extended trial with Bristol City on their training camp in Spain. Looks likely that he will be offered a contract there https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lee-johnson-confirms-bristol-city-1809509

Rohan Ince is trialling at Charlton, and will play against the Albion in the friendly this week. https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/...ure-for-charlton-against-brighton-on-tuesday/

As far as Tim Krul, there is nothing concrete, rumours earlier in the window that he may go to Fulham have gone quiet, now the strongest link appears to be with Reading.

Liam Rosenior has also been quiet, though he said to the Argus earlier in the summer that he had had offers, but was looking for somewhere in lower PL or in the Championship. http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/16339802.rosenior-gets-boost-as-he-trains-with-albion-under-23s/

Steve Sidwell meanwhile is contemplating retirement after all of his back problems last season. https://talksport.com/football/4015...-contemplating-retirement-after-back-surgery/

I wish them all the best, and they seem to all be attracting decent interest which is a good sign!

Looked at the thread title and thought it was either an interesting name for a band, another Scandinavian crime noir TV box set, or a zombie novel. :)

We have an option on a 2nd further year for Towell, which perhaps makes a loan more possible.

I have a feeling we may see Sidwell playing for...BT Sport this season.
BT lost Gerrard and Lampard from last season and will be looking for at least two new faces to cover Prem League and Champs League games. Sidwell came across very well last season as guest summariser for Sky. Noted on Instagram he's had a couple of 'meetings' in London, which could be media-related opportunities.
