Have avoided this thread for the last 4 months or so, as I have been injured or ill since just before the Brighton Marathon. Still not 100%, but had booked into run the Windsor half this weekend, and although I haven't run much over the last couple of months, I want to take part. Have run a few 5 miles and 10 miles but kept getting injured after each one. Feel alright now and ran 5 miles on Monday with no real issues.

Anyone else running Windsor Half on Sunday?

Weather is looking good so should be a pleasant run whatever the pace it...

Sadly not. Enjoy it and good luck. Hope you're over the injury/illness now –*fingers crossed.

Curious Orange & JoePrecious Good luck to you both, I will be wearing my Brighton top and aiming for a time of around 1.55. When I booked up, I had just finished the Brighton Half in 1.48 and thought I would be able to train for 1.45 or less, wasn't to be. If i can get around in 1.55 and injury free i will be pleased. See you there!

Running club

Hi all, can anyone point me in the right direction for evening running club? Specifically looking at Mon - Weds meeting for group runs. I've had a quick look online, but couldn't see anything specific. Sure I've seen something going on at Hove Park and on the seafront in the past, but just wondered if anyone here could suggest anything that they are part of? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried Beckenham yet? The course is just as quick as Bromley but it is much quieter. Only gets about 150 compared to the 600odd that Bromley tends to get now. Unless you are right at the front at Bromley you can easily get boxed in and lose 30 seconds by the first corner.

I did look at Beckenham. I like the sound of the smaller field. It's a bit further (I can walk to Orpington) but once you are in the car...

Not a member but the 2 that spring to mind are Arena 80 and Hove Hornets. But these days there seem to be a variety of more informal arrangements alongside the 'recognised' clubs.

So the good news is that I have WON a parkrun, Portsmouth Lakeside. The bad news is that the course measures short so my 18:23 is not for the board. Curious Orange and big nuts are safe for now, but boys I am coming for you!

Ultimately I will be hunting down Capricorn but that's some way off. [emoji23]

Congrats on your PB Garry Nelson's teacher - I'll update the table when I am back on a PC.

Great running. How short was the course? I'd include it on the board as Park Run's are a 5k race and should be measured accurately.

I see you won by a second too, did you hang on or pip on the line?

Great running. It's hotting up at the top of the table. Competition is working. Are you sure it's a short course?

I had a great run out today. On the back of only running twice in 2 months I got to within 27 seconds of my SB in 22:23 at Hove Park. Not sure where that came from. Welsh Mountains, achiles feeling good for first time in 12 months and the obligatory bottle and a quarter of red wine, perhaps.

Fingers crossed I can now resume training and the 4 week plan is to have a good run out at Bevendean avoiding the NSC wooden spoon and then have a crack at Greg Bobkin 5k SB choosing a flat course and moving up that bloody table.

So would I but I'd have not said anything in the first place either. I think it has something to do with his job.

Well done Ninja. I've done Lakeside and (despite the fact that it's under-measured!) thought it was quite a slow track (and full of goose shite). I would have thought that Southsea was a better bet for a PB as you were in the area, although today the wind might have been a factor.
Please don't take the trouble to amend the leader board. By Worthing PR I just meant 'parkrun' and my time wasn't a PB (or even a PR which I believe is the American term). Anyway well done for chalking up an 'away' win deep in Pompey territory.

Cheers all, my Strava measured 4.98km, only on watch so no upload until tomorrow. Southsea was the intended run but, well, sense of direction. [emoji23] The cycle here should have been no more than 48 miles, I managed 61! Had a pizza and a pint last night too, so all in all, not exactly the most textbook prep.

Any tips on how to keep cool, my head felt like it was on fire this morning after about 3k???

Or is it just lack of fitness?
