So this is an unusually strong position, but Sussex will need to get a wriggle on. I think they'll want Worcestershire back in for the final session, ideally with a massive lead.

It is the record against Worcs they have broken (or I think they have broken anyway!) - have tweeted Adrian Harms for the info.

Cheers, Im listening now out in a very hot France, so odd to hear them talk of rain.

I love the fact this record partnership in the 1st innings lead to a draw.

Not Luton! Thank God
They must have been talking perhaps this season, millennium or that the hold the 6th wicket record, just found this on Wikipedia, scores 385 to 297 seem more like it, 297 if its the fifth wicket. 221 at the moment.

1st – 490 Ted Bowley and John Langridge v Middlesex at Hove (1933)
2nd – 385 Ted Bowley and Maurice Tate v Northamptonshire at Hove (1921)
3rd – 385* Michael Yardy and Murray Goodwin v Warwickshire at Hove (2006)
4th – 363 Murray Goodwin and Carl Hopkinson v Somerset at Taunton (2009)[25]
5th – 297 Jim Parks and Harry Parks v Hampshire at Portsmouth (1937)
6th – 335 Luke Wright and Ben Brown v Durham at Hove (2014)
7th – 344 Ranjitsinhji and Billy Newham v Essex at Leyton (1902)
8th – 291 Robin Martin-Jenkins and Mark Davis v Somerset at Taunton (2002)
9th – 178 Harry Parks and Albert Wensley v Derbyshire at Horsham (1930)
10th – 164 Ollie Robinson and Matt Hobden v Durham at Chester-le-Street (2015)[32]

That pretty much sums up Sussex's history. Ok up until the 1930's and then crap for 70 years before picking up again in the new century

Idiots at the top still in a pow wow at Lords, let have more 50 over cricket and scrap championship games (rumours by 2017 down to 8 games a season) with only one promotion and relegation slot, its all about the money some people could make.

The problem is twofold.

1. No one is watching county cricket.
2. County cricket isn't preparing players for test match cricket - the route seems to be via limited overs cricket rather than via the cc. The step up is too big from county trundlers bowling at 85mph to best test match bowlers steaming in at 95mph.

Something needs to change.

Somerset and Sussex get the biggest attendance for county cricket, so lets just ignore these core supporters, it felt like hardly anyone watched 50 over cricket this year.

We sell out most games for 20/20. But why would playing more of this create test players and not make some individuals who will own city franchises very rich and replace home grown players with the world elite select few who will take most of the profits in wages.
