If fans genuinely were offended/upset by the level of player wages, they would cancel their subscriptions to Sky.

But they don't (although there is evidence of falling viewing figures). Instead they put on their slippers turn on the TV, It's all a part of feeling groovy
It's time to relax, now you've worked your arse off, but the only one smiling is Rupert Murdoch

Actions, not words, will result in change.

The bigger the Prem money pot the bigger the gulf between those that have that money and those that do not. This is incredibly damaging for healthy competition, and it is staggering that 2 sides managed to get promoted who've never appeared in the Prem before.

The current set-up encourages huge risk-talking and financial irresponsibility - FFP has been flouted, clubs have cheated their way to promotion and gambled on huge transfer fees. The whole thing looks unsustainable apart from the richest clubs and those that are prepared to live within their means, even if that means taking a relegation hit every now and again, i.e. Hull, Norwich.

Is it that staggering though?

Burnley, Blackpool, Wigan, Cardiff, Hull, Watford have all been promoted. FFP is a farce, there's nothing 'fair' in it. Even a small club such as Crystal Palace have not only gone up, but stayed up too.

Last season showed yet again that spending money, and spending money wisely, are two different things.

Yes concerned about transfer and wage costs but I have faith in TB not to get carried away, the Aiax team that reached this years Europa cup final apparently cost £15 million to assemble so it can be done and Burnley is a model to follow?

It's staggering to me - as an accountant - that clubs with such a huge advantage as parachute payments often can't convert that advantage into promotion within 2, or even 3, seasons. Yes, I understand it's not easy to take a squad that has been relegated and bounce straight back, but not to be able to finish above clubs like Huddersfield - and I mean no disrespect to them because they thoroughly deserved their promotion - is nothing less than mismanagement of the highest order.

I fully expect the Albion to be one of those clubs that puts financial management at the top of the agenda so that if we go down we have the resources to come straight back up again.

Understand where you are coming from, but the parachute payments advantage can quickly become diluted if clubs are relegated with the likes of Nikola Zigic (being paid £4m a year at Birmingham whilst in the reserves) and Jamie O'Hara, who whined that he was misunderstood whilst on £35k a week in League One, so confused was Jamie that he slipped a length to a barmaid whilst THIS young lady was waiting for him at home.

Every single fan should care.

Exorbitant wages enrich a small number of players and either leave the fans paying for it or clubs lose perspective, overpay and then go under.

If we ever overcommit on player salaries, I would be concerned. I expect Tony to keep our spending under control though, so I'm not worried for the season ahead.
Yeah. 'Should' care, but do we? Let's show we do - and not just by virtue signalling every time a club gets into trouble and needs a tiny fraction of Wayne Rooney's monthly salary in order to survive, instead let's really show we care. Let's petition Tony Bloom to not pay the standard PL wages and fees but to unilaterally give away our Sky booty to the poorer clubs. We can make do with youth players. I'm sure other clubs will follow our righteous example and the financial inequality in football will be wiped out overnight.

Can't see us doing it myself, and what's more I don't want us to do it. We've earned this, let the other clubs worry about their own finances and we'll worry about ours. If we've got the money then let's spend it on the best players we can get.. I'm a bit like the bloke in that limerick:

"A graduate of LSE said,
As a student of course I was Red.
But now I'm with Shell,
Let the proles go to hell,
My pension is safe till I'm dead!"

You've managed to do something truly remarkable there - a single post incorporating accountancy AND soft core porn. Bravo sir, I commend you!
