BG was only expressing a view shared by many (including myself) i.e. why should footballers be allowed to adopt the nationality of a relative just because their own doesn't suit them?

In some cases even 'offensive idiots' (a phrase I do not endorse in tis context) get it right. Jack Charlton's ideas of what was Irish were at odds with most peoples'.
Lawrenson especially made a huge mistake - he could easily have played in the World Cup finals for England in 1982 and 1986. He might well have been the one able to stop that little shite Maradonna cheating his country into the next round. Lose lose that situation, if ever there was one!
