A nice bit of South London
Easiest to most difficult, ordered by the average current points of the sides to be faced...

1 Leicester City 31.364
2 Liverpool 31.833
3 Burnley 32.182
4 Tottenham Hotspur 33.364
5 Everton 34.000
6 Bournemouth 34.083
7 Arsenal 35.182
8 Swansea City 36.000
9 Manchester City 36.091
10 Manchester United 36.333
11 Watford 36.455
12 Crystal Palace 36.545
13 Huddersfield Town 36.750
14 West Bromwich Albion 37.000
15 Chelsea 37.167
16 Newcastle United 37.833
17 Southampton 38.417
18 Stoke City 39.545
19 West Ham United 41.545
20 Brighton & Hove Albion 41.727

I don’t understand
Our average points are 41.72?
That’s more than anyone else, yet we’re bottom?

This might be skewed by the terrible runs of both Palace and Swansea, depending on when other teams faced them could have a big effect on the points won.

Couldn't give a toss what the stats say , that team bonding exercise in the last 5 minutes of yesterdays game will be worth it's weight in stayingupisms .

We need 9 points. 37 will be enough with a superior goal difference. Swansea, Huddesrfield and Leicester at Home. Palace, Burnley, Everton away all offer genuine points oppertunities..
My preferred formula is that we need 8 more points and that we WILL get at least 7 of them from these 6 matches.

It is far from certain but the odds in our favour.

Obviously desperately hope we do it and then the fun will be to see if we can strengthen sufficiently to avoid such fine margins next year.

The sides we still have to face have an average of 41.727 points currently. This is higher than the average points of the sides to be faced by anyone else.

And if we adopt a positive attitude towards Arsenal. And don't just stand off them and watch them play. They can be turned over as well. We will stay up as long ad we maintain a more positive approach.

2 wins and 3 draws will do it. Where are all those who were convinced we were this years Middlesbrough? Equalled their points tally with 11 games to go.

Still think it could be West Brom, Palace and either Hudds, Newcastle or Stoke.

Palace squad is threadbare, apparently RLC out for the season too. Benteke appalling goal scoring record and a tough run in.

Is my Maths suspect?

Utd 56
Burnley 36
Liverpool 51
= 143/3
= 47.666

Maybe I should have said average pts per club to be played?

My argument being:
Using the current pts per game as a standard for difficulty of run in.
I would rather have these three as last games of the season, than play them as our next 3.

One thing is for sure - this table will change week by week.

And by the final day - according to this analysis - Southampton will have the trickiest 1 game run in of them all.

Swansea is Must-Must-Must-Win ( as will be the Huddersfield game ).
We need about 2 wins and 3 draws from our last 11. Those two certainly seem like our best chances of wins, but a surprise win elsewhere could do it.

I reckon the.... 'Rest players for the Champions League' are much bigger factors.
Let's check:
Arse - 4th March - they could have the first leg of round of 16 Europa league shortly after, but they need to fight for 4th more.
City - 18th March - no CL games around then
Spurs - 21st Apr - they'll probably be out by then, but could have a semi-final on 24th/25th which would be good - still fighting for 4th though
Utd - 5th May - also probably out, but could have had a semi-final on 1st/2nd May
Liv - 13th May - No CL then

Can't see us getting much help there.

Swansea have had the new manager bounce effect. FA Cup break has come at the perfect time. With that as our next fixture. They will level out. 1 nil win against a Burnley side, who haven't won in 10 games.. Will will turn Swansea and Huddersfield over. Then we just need 3 more points from somewhere.

City away..its nailed on

Our GD is better than Stoke and Hudds, but not a lot different to the others, and could yet take a pasting with away games at Liverpool and City to look forward to.

Even if we didn’t take any points from the top 6 sides for the rest of the season, which I think we will, I think we have enough games left against sides where we can pick up points.

I would say home to Leicester and away to Burnley are very winnable in addition to the Swansea and Huddersfield games. Add in the definite potential for points away to Everton and Palace, I think we’ll be ok.
