You can tell the big two marathons (for most people) are out of the way – this thread is dropping like a stone

Anyway, the Ironman training plan calls for intervals tomorrow with 'relaxed sprints' ??? Any ideas what they might be, or how they might differ from standard ones? Just a bit slower, I'm guessing, but enough to get the HR up...

TIA

I've started working on weekly relaxed intervals. Decided to allow each sprint to easily allow for 9" pace same distance jog recovery and to start the first one at a pace that allows the body to fractionally do each one with more effort than the last. Also thinking 10k finish rather than 5k.
Not really aiming at a top speed, which is just as well in this wind.

Will continue the easy start to Hove Prom Parkrun dropping 15 seconds every week and race from 2 miles. So 8" pace last week down to 7:45 this week. Great fun overtaking over 50 runners last week. Made up for being overtaken by 2,000 runners from 2 pens at the marathon. Was easy to spot my solitary bag in the blue bag pick up area.........

Hove PROM? SPLITTER

I still don't really know what relaxed sprints are, so I gave it five minutes at 8' pace, followed by a 20 second sprint (the plan says six sprints in 40 minutes, but I managed seven) and finished bang on 40 mins with a 7'52 average pace. Then went and did MORE intervals in the pool (4x100m, 1,000m total swim), which was more knackering than the run!

Looking at your Strava I'd call them strides but I suppose that is the same as a relaxed sprint. In fact I'm sure in the 70's fartlek was todays intervals.

Hove Prom to avoid tree pollen, get used to judging pace on the flat and to continue shouting 'Putin' to Tory boy Robert Nemeth in the vein of last week after he bizarrely and skinnily ran bare chested. Give Councillors the respect they deserve. Even told him he was giving me a stiffy.

Don't you be bringing politics into RUNNING, FFS!

Fair play on the pollen avoidance though.

Make knocky1 great again! :albion:

I ran a progressive Hove Park parkrun this morning, 7:15, 6:54, 6:47, 4:58 for the final 0.11. I didn't enjoy the first mile or two but I opened up a little bit in the final 1.1 and I think that there does remain some pace in my legs but I'm still struggling with the groin injury which has plagued me for a while. My focus is on getting in the super egos team for the Link!

The Weakest Link takes me to todays Hove Prom run. Arena 80 mob flashed the run and their Richard Clayton won in 16:01. The 3 of us in the first NSC Weakest Link (Ninja, me and Bobkin???)solitary team entry will remember him as our loanee from Arena. He was fast that day but on fire today. Shame I can't catch him he never did pay me the £2 entry fee...........

Weakest Link participants for 2018 are currently; Ben Eltons brother, Simgull, DeleteBeeps, Ninj, Big Nuts, Bobkin and myself (subject to the referendum). Put youself forward so we can get an idea of number of teams.

Just because I suggested a referendum, are you now only referring to me by surname only? [emoji23][emoji23] I'm only joking - I'm 100% REMAIN for our leader.

I remember that fella - he was rapid. Looking forward to Weakest Link - great fun and hopefully more sun than rain again, hopefully.

Nice conditions today for Park Run, just a shame my condition isn't great at the moment. I haven't run a Park Run since the 27th January and it showed today, with wild splits and clocked in at 19:23 at Preston Park.

Enjoyed being back out there on a Saturday morning and particularly enjoyed one comment from the local nutter walking in his Father Christmas jumper "This parks not just for you b@stards".

Mile 1 6:03
Mile 2 6:28
Mile 3 6:19
0.1 5:30

Mile 2 was more of a re-grouping exercise and I was pleased to overtake four or five on the final slope. Still someway of my best but this run will do me a lot of good with 10k season looming.

Many thanks for updating. I'd like to leave it at that in which case I would have already leapfrogged you. However you've very generously given me a 75.8% rather than a 75.08%. Notwithstanding this I'd like to say that you have the full confidence of the Board. I think (hope) that there might be well more to come from both of us this year and put the Youth Team in its place.

Good to see Ninja in Hove Park this morning. Really pleased with my efforts too, a 50 second seasons best down to 22.40 and my best time over 5K for a little over three years.

If the table could be updated along with my best over the longer distances, that would be great!

10K - 45.38
HM - 1.45.39
M - 3.52.07

Still got to up the pace a little with an eye on the Weakest Link...
