So Cardiff "allege" there more than two. I've heard of four or five. My point stands, that's less than a handful out of 10,000 messages. I would actually be surprised if there weren't more - I would hate for people to see the messages I've sent to close mates!

John Terry and Saurez probably shouted non-racist things at opponents thousands more times than they did racist ones.

The Daily Mail have printed many quotes, so if Mackay is only responsible for a couple then Moody must be the most bigoted fool since Bernard Manning last trod the boards.

Some of the anti-Semitic stuff is quite bad. They mention Maccabi Tel-Aviv, and it is a fact Rob Earnshaw was on loan there then returned whilst under Mackay's tenure, so it's all plausible.

Are you seriously telling me you've never sent an email or text message to a good mate that might be deemed offensive? Seriously?

Not on my work computer or phone. BUt that's not the point, Terry and Suarez were judged on one moment (or a few in Saurez's case) what's the difference?

Shouting racist abuse at an individual is obviously worse than saying some naughty things to a close mate - a mate who would knows he's joking. As I've said, IF it's a handful of messages out of 10,000 I personally think the media witch hunt is ridiculous. If there are loads, then that's more of a pattern that would suggest an underlying issue.

What witch hunt? Palace don't want two people who've done this and face a lot of financial impropriety allegations working for them. So they didn't give one a job and the other resigned. No-one seems to be suggesting anything else

It reminds me of how Andy Gray was 'caught' using sexist language. He was micing up for a pre-game intro, probably not knowing a camera was running, when someone made a blokey, normal-in-blokey-workplaces, comment about a female presenter. Whether the initial 'commenter' was a plant, I can't recall, but AG just replied with an offhand, blokey, comment, that I would reckon 99.9% of blokes would reply with, and he gets pilloried ???

How many people on this board, including women, have NEVER made a comment, or written a text, that would fall foul of the current rules? Not many I should imagine...

Earlier today it was the third story on the BBC NEWS website. Just below ISIS in Iraq/Syria, and Russia invading Ukraine. It was also on the front page of many newspapers. To me that's a witch hunt

Yeh but when you did this were you referring to work matters i.e. Lists of potential recruits, agents etc there is a difference.

I can confirm this, some of the messages he sends make me feel sick to my stomach.

I am with Stumpy Tim here. I've sent Instant messages at work whilst on conference calls to close colleagues slagging off suppliers or customers which serves us the purpose of sharing our real feelings whilst simultaneously maintaining the professional facade of what we actually say. I am sure there are a multitude of text messages I have sent which could be taken the wrong way. I'm sure I am not alone although reading this thread there are a lot of people who are apparently whiter than white.

As I said the other day, the real story to me is the missing money. That's what will do for Mackay and Moody. Chairman will be more bothered about funds going missing than Malkay's view on the size of a female agents bangers.

Silly old bat
I think there's a lot more involved than a few texts. They seem to be the tip of the iceberg.
Look at posts 51 & 64 on this thread. I can understand why Ibrahim Farah has deleted his tweets now, but I would think he will let the PFA know what was said.

There's also the business of spying on Cardiff, where Palace/Moody were found guilty and fined.

Don't all footballers, when out on the pitch, call oppo players fornicators, and question their parenthood, etc? Where does the line get drawn FFS ??? Are we going to get major investigations every time something like this comes up? It's never going to end is the answer...

in this day and age you have to be whiter than white on these issues (no pun intended) especially if you are in a public position. I work for a large company in my department there are 50 women and 3 men. None of us would dream of making comments about any of the women publicly or privately - its just not done. To send racist, sexist and homophobic messages on a works phone is pure stupidity on so many levels. We all know that you dont look at porn for example on works computer. Its basic stuff. They really should know better. Social media I think has made people feel its easy to text or tweet comments or remarks that you would never say in public. They are paying the price for it and in my opinion rightly so and as for the LMA response it really does beggar belief, seriously who advises these people - Max Clifford?

Ah, the "holier than thou" argument.

The whole essence of this is thinking you are better than the person on the other side of the argument because of your position. The thing is, it goes both ways. With you acting holier than the other side because you are more forgiving of Mackay, more 'reasonable' (from your perspective).

Ironic that it was Stumpy Tim who proclaimed Mackay practically saintly (albeit tongue in cheek).
