Down to the local early doors to have a couple of drinks with mates, back home for 8 ish for a cracking meal, bit of telly, see in Midnight and off to bed. Most over hyped event of the year, people paying to go into a pub and everyone going out expecting it to be something different from a mass commercialised wallet emptying debt fest, that it is! .... or maybe I'm just miserable?

Used to enjoy going out when you could do a pub crawl, but these days with paying to get in pubs or going to only one can’t be bothered. Probably couple of bottles of champagne spent at home watching Jules Holland.

When much younger I used to go to Weymouth for NYE to meet up with some mates in the RAF. Everyone in the town would go out in fancy dress with water pistols and pubs were free to get into. Loads of snogs with random girls at midnight and a guarenteed bonk. Great times .... ruined now by commercialisation.

It's the biggest night of the year, towns heaving across the land with people determined to see out the old year and see in the new one in style, always a great night and one I look forward to.

This year we've got our good friends Polly and Giles down so we're going for an Indian banquet and then hopping across to the Volley to see in the New Year.

:O

As I've got older I've got less and less fussed about NYE. This year will be spent in rural France with Mrs W and Miss W along with some cheese and a decent red. I'll probably be in bed well before midnight ...... and probably without a strap-on !

Me or Ernest? Or maybe both?

Completely indifferent to NYE. One day it's December 31st, next day it's January 1st. Whoop-de-bloody-do.

Ditto. Hate going out - contrived 'jollity', everywhere heaving, restaurants serving overpriced set menus etc. Bah humbug, will have a nice dinner and a bottle of something decent at home.

Having read the works Christmas party thread, and this, I can only conclude that most people really can't be bothered to celebrate either!

Not fussed with it being NYE, but in the past it's just been an opportunity to get a bunch of us together and have a laugh, which we do on most occasions. The London fireworks are always great, too. But we'll be away too this year, so doing whatever Mexicans do (or Americans who will probably be taking over the place!).

Some friends of ours got married on 31st Dec a few years ago. Was one of the best celebrations I have been to and will take a lot to top it.

Used to enjoy it, as it was the only night the pubs stayed open 'after hours'. Now they do this most weekends / nights, there's no real incentive.
