whats the point of following a team that has no confidence in its manager to appoint his own players to join the squad ?
perhaps any manager worth his salt would resent the clubs policy

That was my first thought.

You can bet OG wouldn't take him so will leave the club with a problem. "Giving him a chance" might well be brainwave of the money men, along with not renewing 7 contracts and telling Jones what a fabulous crop of youngsters we have

Next appointment will show what the clubs ambition really is.

Appoint someone who has been there and done it before like Mckay or go for a young but ambitious manager again?

I would be worried by the risk of the latter option.
