Do you have enough loyalty points to attend the bonfire? Minimum points is 125,000 and to have this, you must be at least a fifth generation Lewesian and be able to bring along a great grandparent who was also a fifth generation Lewesian (if they are dead, you should push their body along the High Street in a burning wheel barrow).

Don't go if you have any issues with the following:

Fire, crowds, loud noises, blackface, 17th Century attitudes towards religious diversity.

I always enjoyed Lord Bracknell's contributions to the Lewes Bonfire threads

We are going. You can park at Spring Barn Farm park if you book in advance and walk down to the high street. Only a 10 minute walk

Yes, Done this last year, turn right when you're done, through Kingston and on to the A27.

Why have Sussex Police spent the last 20 years trying to block outsiders from attending? What were the awful events prior to that, that led to their control freakery on this?

No events leading to this, just a case of wanting to keep it safe for the crowds (really they would rather it was gone and they don't have to bother with Policing it but as that wont be allowed to happen, they try to keep it as small as possible)

Bound to still get outsiders bringing things along with them that are completely unsuitable for the event, such as those who turn up with their pet dogs!! (lots of bangs and noise and they think it'll be a good environment to take Fido along)

You can earn extra loyalty points by attending any of the various out-meetings leading up to the 5th (4th this year) - Tickets can be brought in advance and you don't even need to turn up to get them awarded (unless the Bonfire Council finds out and decides to amend their terms and conditions in which case, expect a long warning letter from Paul Hairdresser)

Great spectacle to see .......Real pity that the powers that be are trying to stop people from attending. Only a few years ago there were more trains laid on than normal....Now there are none. Coming from Brighton by car you will be routed either along by-pass or through kingston. A little bit of parking around Burger Bar but beware any infringement and you may well be towed away..
