If they'd have just turned up and lost, they'd have stayed up !

That's a good point, and has set a precedent, which could mean an appeal from whoever 'loses'

If there's no points deduction, I can see Millwall taking it further and vis versa.

The Tevez situation was different due to third party ownership. AFC Wimbledon & Hartepool had points deducted so the precedents have been set.
We're not gaining anything but Rotherham should lose the advantage they gained.

He was registered to play until the Friday and then it was renewed on the Monday - there was no deliberate attempt to gain any advantage it was just poor admin. so like Blackpool they will get a fine . To deduct three points would be harsh . if it sent them down they would appeal and they would have strong grounds based on the Blackpool case . That would also take a long time so a fine suits all parties i think ..........

If your car insurance ran out on Friday and, due to poor admin on your part, you would renew it on Monday, would you then keep driving the car over the weekend?
Or if you thought it ran out on the Monday (but it actually ran out on Friday) and you got caught driving at the weekend, do you think the courts would take that into consideration?

I think the difference could be that Blackpool lost their match, and Rotherham United won.

If Millwall had beaten Blackburn mmm not sure anyone here would think a fine would be ok.

it will be 3 points deduction imho, the young lad in question got man of the match, played 90 mins in centre of their defence and they won 1-nil. He had a pretty significant part in the game and as MOM you cannot argue he didn't affect the result.

If Rotherham are given just a fine, and they finish fourth bottom by less than 3 points, you can be certain that whoever finishes 3rd bottom of Wigan or Millwall will be going through the courts.

So many times when a team has got points with an inelligble player the points are deducted, a fine is only normally for a team that loses anyway despite the offence

Agree. It'll be three points lost. Only reason Blackpool didn't is because they lost the game in question. Plenty of precedents. League should deal with it more quickly too.

I wonder as the decision will have an impact on relegation for somebody, if the game will be replayed, plus a fine.

Otherwise the whole thing is potentially going to drag through the courts.

I do not think there will be a point penalty (maybe a suspended one).

The problem is, it will end up in court if the FA / FL are not careful as it will affect somebody.
