Not looking for a row, but I genuinely believe our children will pay the price if we buy into ISIS hands by vilifying an entire religion made up of mostly innocent people.
When this all started I was outraged and believed we should bulldoze mosques and expel Muslims. I have since been educated and now hold a different more rational view. And am pleased to do so as I believe tolerance and understanding of the religion (not the terrorists) is the solution. But I understand why people don't agree with this.

Nobody will pay any price if they are not in our Country in the first place.

Its way beyond tolerance. Why do we need to understand their religion. THIS IS ENGLAND. They should be in line with us, not the other way round.

In these days where managing directors of firms that fail to maintain H&S standards for its employees are jailed and there is widespread public demand for criminal retribution for those that managed the Grenfell Tower (before the recent fire), its strange that Govt ministers get away scot free when acts of terrorism result in deaths of the public.

If councillors, civil servants and managing directors can be accountable for "negligence" in discharging their duties then so should Home Secretaries, Prime Ministers Commissioners of Police etc.

Things won't change till they are accountable for the safety of the British public.

A very good point indeed.

Couldn't agree more, and the icing on the cake is our political classes have the neck to espouse the rhetoric that we won't change our values.

Armed soldiers on our streets are the final card any Govt can play and it's being played with depressing regularity. The Met were recently polled for being fully armed, and a majority responded that they would prefer to be armed.

So there it is, a possible new reality for how we could be policed in the future?

That unfortunately is where this country is heading right now and the unfortunate truth is it will make no difference at all in preventing another terrorist attack from happening, and i love the sneaky little way that this number has nicely been sneaked in through the back door without public consent, that said there are certain folk that i have come to meet who love the whole idea and claim that the government are doing this in our best interest .."for our own security" they sadly say. ..such a shame the blind tw@ts cant see no further than the end of their nose and see exactly where all of this is heading..

Depends what you mean by fully armed! Your post may give the impression that the Met all want guns whereas I believe the latest poll inidicated they all want tasers and that the number of armed officers should be increased. Every officer having a gun is very different to them all having tasers!

Call me old fashioned, but I would rather not have an armed police force, whether that is with guns or tasers.

You may want to convince yourself that arming all police with tasers presents no escalation in how we are policed in this country but you would be profoundly wrong.

Further, whether or not all of the police in this country are armed with tasers or guns, it will do absolutely nothing to prevent acts of Islamic terrorism in this country. It will however cost the taxpayer more money, and it will translate into more cases like Dalian Atkinson.

Tasers and guns should be outlawed end of and the same rule applies to civilians as well, neither weapon would make a blind bit of difference in combating crime and if anything would exacerbate a particular problem more.

Please ffs don't tell me that you are one of these idiots who is a supporter of the militarization of our police thus leading us further towards a police state. if you are don't expect a answer.

You're one of those idiots that expects the Police to put their own lives on the line day in and day out to protect you and the public with feather dusters.

Granted, bulldozing mosques and expelling muslims was a dickhead viewpoint for you to hold but out of interest considering you have received education that changed your perspective, who was it that educated you to be tolerant of and understanding toward a religion that routinely treats women as second class citizens, was it someone inside the religion itself, someone else or were you self taught?

A combination of those and more.

As an aside, that kind of post is the reason people don't like you. I look forward to your response tomorrow morning when you finish your paper round.

You are missing the point.

If we decide to arm all of our Police, we are not maintaining British values and our way of life. Politicians and the chattering classes should be straight with the public, our way of life is changing profoundly to counter Islamic extremism. The public can see it anyway, notwithstanding NI and airports armed police and the British army strolling around our streets and train stations is very new, and very troubling.

It's troubling because it merely treats the symptoms of Islamic extremism not the root cause. Tragically it's far easier for politicians to roll out the army onto our streets, and trot out platitudes that we will not change our way of life than treat the root cause.

It's why these threads about Islamic terrorism will not end any time soon.

Fake news.

The British Army are not strolling around our streets or train stations.

Note fake news, Junior, you don't understand what Operation Temperer means.......

http://www.theweek.co.uk/manchester-attack/84923/manchester-attack-what-is-operation-temperer

First rolled out after Manchester, and being rolled out again whilst threat level remains as is.......what I saw at Victoria and Paddington station after the Manchester bombing was not scotch mist.

https://www.standard.co.uk/comment/...treets-but-not-in-the-long-term-a3548646.html

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...eases-uk-terrorist-alert-critical-manchester/

https://www.theguardian.com/comment...terrain-british-democracy-election-manchester

The UK is merely rolling out what is the default "state of emergency" arrangements that exist in countries like France, it's why soldiers in France on the streets are being attacked on the streets by Islamic extremists. Only this weekend a soldier was attacked by an Islamic terrorist at Chatelet station in Paris.

I think you are in a state of denial.

They do put troops on the streets. I believe they also have military in police uniform. Like they did at the miners strikes.

So now we have terrorists posing as children in foster care . Amber Rudd to resign perhaps .

Can't see there being too much flack coming her way though from the media or from the opposition in Parliament .

Would surely be difficult for this crew to score political points over the " incident "

Indeed, rather than bulldozing and destroying Mosques as a solution to Islamic terrorism in this country we should amplify the education clampy received to the wider Muslim community at large.

For once we can look to our cousins on the continent for the precedent on how this education process takes place........

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...ace-veil-muslim-lgbtq-men-women-a7793791.html

All Mosques in this country should be registered and run on entirely this basis..........equality of areas like gender and sexuality are core British values. If tolerant British Muslims don't want to embrace this then as a matter of conscience they can move abroad.

British religious types have been emigrating from this country for that reason for years........ergo the Mayflower. An exodus of conservative British muslims departing for places around the world where they can practice their religion in the way they want will be treading a well worn path.

The quid pro quo would be the country being left with the overwhelming majority of tolerant muslims, and ergo less terrorism.

Ugh. It's so predictable and depressing that these incidents always bring the bigots out of the woodwork emboldened with the false sense that the nation agrees with them. Another unfortunate side effect of Brexit. How dull.
