Crystal Palace are reportedly considering a move to sign Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper in January.

But reports claim that the former Norwich City and Celtic striker is also wanted by Palace's Premier League rivals West Brom and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Hooper has been in fine form of late for the Owls, scoring seven goals in his last seven games and 20 in 43 Championship starts for Wednesday.

And the Sun is reporting that his form has caught the attention of Palace, West Brom and Brighton, with all three sides said to be looking to bolster their attacking options in January.

The report suggests that Hooper would be likely to cost around £6m.

Depends what the alternative is. If it’s him or nobody then go for it.

Bad deal better than no deal, then? Is he actually any better than what we've already got? £6M isn't much by today's standards, but it's a lot if it buys no improvement to the present team.

At Arsenal we had no striker so not hard to improve on that.

Better bet than the unobtainables that we went after in the summer. I have zero faith that we'll land one in January either so it's a YES from me.

Joined Norwich from Celtic in 2013, so presumably signed by Chris Hughton. Probably the reason for the link.

Hmmm alternatively, this conversation was shouted across the agents offices:-

"Who shall we link him with"
"Albion"
"Which one?"
"Doesn't matter, just say both"

Also now being reported by The Sun.

... so we now definitely know it's a no goer.

Yes, he was. I reminded him of it after his push on Dunk led to a certain goal in a playoff semi-final second leg. Sadly he wasn't exactly contrite.
