That's exactly the same as my wife and I. We saw the trailers and thought "Oh that's just what the world needs: another sub-standard LOTR rip-off". As a rule we don't 'do' fantasy and didn't really like the LOTR films so we thought we wouldn't like GOT - how wrong we were. A snobby friend of mine who hates popular TV (popular anything really) and who I thought would sneer at it told me it was the best series he'd ever seen. Given his recommendation last year when Sky Atlantic re-broadcast the series we recorded it all and binge-watched it. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
