Dear God, Kingston Gorse is nowhere near Angmering, it doesn't border Angmering, it's impossible to get from Angmering to KG without going through East Preston.

Other than that carry on. .

I am talking of pre 1960s when to quote my wife it was a 10 minute walk along the beach from Angmering to Kingston Gorse but obviously borders have changed. She used to walk it every Sunday morning with her dog going down by the Rife. This was when Ferring didnt have a chippy because a lady in South Ferring had the licence and didnt want one so wouldnt use it. What is now Rife Way Ferring was vegetable fields owned by McIntyres. North of what was known as Line Edge the path from Goring station to The Henty was also vegetable fields owned by Langmeads. This is where Worthing RFC are hoping to build a new ground.

Mostly boring.

Being a life long resident of the general area. I wouldn't count anything north of the railway line, regardless of what estate agent flannel or borough ward boundaries would try on. Totally different demographic.
45 years association with the place too. North of the railway line, the demarcation line is around Limbrick Lane - Durrington to the east and Goring to the west. Realise of course that this grates with any south of the railway snobbery that may abound!

I am just off to restock the 'Pringles' - could be a long night:moo:
Save yourself the effort.

I have no intention of arguing with a man who 99.9% of the time refuses to admit he's wrong.
Even on a subject that it's my job to know, and within that EP being my 'specialist subject'.

Nowt wrong with the Henty Arms - smashing little pub, good beer!
Was in there Thursday evening with the family who come from and still live in Ferring good beer well kept by Vernon and reasonable priced food. We had a good evening. If I ever won the lottery I would buy a bungalow in either Goring Way or just north if the railway lines near The Henty.

Your showing signs of justification.......perhaps i will get pringles too :lolol: :jester:
Clearly a 350 year old map printed in the Angmering neighbourhood plan is no match for Mrs BG,.
I promise ! will withdraw gracefully, although only after I've read just how and why it's wrong.

Bloody Worthing!
East Preston is the place to avoid full of 'penny millionaires' all trying to keep one above the next door neighbour. My wife was born and brought up in Ferring and it did have 3 decent pubs and a club in the 60s but like many they have closed through lack of use. The Quadrant is not in Goring it is in Maybridge but Estate Agents have their own names to sell the properties like Cotswold Rd area now known as Lower Salvington.

Des Lynam lives in East Preston. Probably this is in itself sufficient to make it an attractive relocation choice for anyone with Albion connections.

Des lives on the Kingston Gorse estate but can be seen on a daily basis cycling over to EP to pick up his newspaper at Hedgers newsagent.

As you say DL lives on Kingston Gorse and cycles to EP. I am not disputing that may be the boundary now but it either wasnt or was not accepted as such pre 1960. Greg Stanley always maintained that his club The Blue Peter was just up the road from KG. People used to walk down from the Seaview? to the beach and then along to Angmering, just a few minutes walk. I would be interested to see a map of the boundaries then as opposed to now, or as in the plan Stat Brother talks of.

You should know by now that you should never believe anything that comes out of Stanley's mouth.

I just went on google maps and put Kingston Gorse in the search and it showed as Kjngston Gorse East Preston with it touching on Angmering via Coastal Road. I think that over the years the boundary has changed and as my wife said she probably did walk to Angmering along the beach from Ferring through KG without going into EP village up near the Legion etc which is what people class as EP generally.

Hilarious thread.

Reminds me of hitch-hiking with a Glaswegian lorry driver who proceeded to list all the Scottish towns he hated, down as far as the people in the next street.

FWIW I could see how Ferring would be a nice place to retire to. Has a village atmosphere, plenty of green spaces, sheltered climate, no through traffic and a GWR from which to stare out to sea, awaiting the inevitable. Henty Arms is not a bad little pub. A step above the Greater Worthing dullsville that includes Goring.

So OP, recommend Ferring to your in-laws.

The legion is called the East Preston and Kingston RBL and is in the centre of EP and nowhere near Angmering.
The Angmering boundary with EP is north of the A259.
