Just sit on the bike, back pedal a bit then pedal forward to lock into place. If it's a new link you should be able to get it apart again fairly easily. Drop of chain lube before linking together will help.

I've just finished wrapping new on because of doing the gear shifter and it has a sticky strip on the back, so no idea how non sticky will work but I tend to agree with your mate that if you do it tight enough it will hold fine.

I'm liking the car sticker Cinelli now include with this tape too btw :thumbsup:

Indexing done yesterday as good as I was going to get it up on the stand. New bar tape on this morning.

Just back from evening ride to test everything out and it felt like a new bike with the new chain and bar tape on! Lovely ride on a lovely evening

One little skip in one gear on the way down, recitified if I go past it then back up to it again. What with the old chain being stretched though it might just justify a new cassette to finish the job off good and proper and sneak onto an 11-28 jobby from the existing 12-27 :wink:

Do any SPD-L combi pedals exist?

For my general around town, winter hack, cross bike, I'd ideally like SPD-L for my road shoes one side, flat the other. SPD-L pedals very nearly achieve this anyway, and are okay to wear in trainers etc. just wondered if anyone had seen a pedal design that actually uses the rear side with a bit of grip for normal shoes?? Gap in the market!?

Only ones I have seen are these....none for proper road cleats though.

All SPDs. Found these adaptors too, expensive though but you can fix any cleat so that you can turn any clip pedal into a flat:

How does a Continental Contact II 700c Commuting Tyre compare to a Schwalbe Marathon for puncture resistance please?

Is it good enough?

NB: Previous Schwalbe Marathon sidewall split. Normally, Schwalbe are really the biz. No punctures for 5000 miles good.

Can't really help with a comparison, but my wife has the Contact IIs on her bike and never had a puncture with them to date (not huge miles mind) and I actually think they are a fairly fast tyre for what they are. You pay a bit more for Conti's but generally they are very good tyres.
