Done it again.

I sent an email to one of the consultants here this morning, her name is Shirley.

I addressed her as Shitley.

We have all done this but the one which comes to mind is when my manager sent me an e-mail (or thought she had) saying another Department's Excel spreadsheet was "the usual dog's breakfast". Unfortunately she sent it to them rather than to me! I have never seen anyone squirm so much.

He he. I have a very similar incident in my locker, caused by rushing and the bad luck of two keys being close together, but giving a very different attitude to the whole email.

I can't remember what had happened, but basically I was giving a hard time to a couple of guys on site. Probably the site manager had left it to the QS, and vice versa, when BOTH should have stepped up and grasped the situation. Anyway, I was ranting, I was raving, firing my two index fingers at the keyboard like never before.

When in such a rage, I type too fast, so I do (nearly) always read my emails back, even if it's only to try and pick up my inevitable collection of "teh" typos. On this occasion, I did read it back, and yes I was being firm, yes I was being angry, but I felt it warranted it. Yep, happy with that, so just signed off with my usual "Regards" and hit send.

The "g" and the "t" are so close to each, but it really does sign off in a very different tone at the end of a bollocking.

Done this too many times to mention, which is why Regards is now in my signature :(

A few years ago I was investigating a case where a colleague was downloading and re-selling some highly dubious pornography. Accompanying each video file was a separate document providing a blow-by-blow account of the video content; ‘man meets donkey’ etc. After the investigation was concluded the HR director asked me to email the files with the descriptive data to him.
He had the same name as someone else in the organisation; a rather doddery bloke close to retirement. This I thought I did with an email saying ‘Hi…this is what you wanted’. You can guess the rest and I received a very confused phone call from my ageing colleague. I am relieved that I hadn’t sent any info on the case itself, like staff names, as I could have been in serious sxxt.
The colleague who received the email claimed to believe my explanation but never looked at me in the same way afterwards.

Not an email gaff, but a planned email gaff.

After receiving an email from the Exchange support team calling my team a "bunch of support monkeys", I thought I'd play a trick. I fowarded his email to my guvnor, and his superior supposedly complaining about the attitude of the Exchange support individual, whilst CC'ing the muppet as well. Instead of the "O" from ".com" on their email addresses, I replaced it with a zero, so as to force a failed delivery.

Within seconds of emailing, the **** from Exchange support comes running on to the floor shouting and hurling abuse at me, and then runs into my bosses office apologising for the way he had addressed my team. Cue my sheer delight, when my boss simply turned to him and said "what email?".

I've added kisses to numerous emails

Its actually a very good barometer of the twattery of the recipient when they reply.

Moral of this story: It's not worth upsetting the support monkeys.

In April, I accidentally farted in front of Marion from Management Accounts when I bent down to get the milk from the fridge.

It smelt.

As an ex-teacher, I regularly used to walk past students and fart on them. Really it was just a fun game; nothing all that embarrassing.

In terms of emails, nothing particularly emabrrassing, but I did send an ex-MD of mine a message saying "I think I love you". Needless to say it was sent to the wrong person but she took the p*ss out of me for months.

I once acted for a business where the two business partners had fallen out big time. Partner A emailed me, describing how trying to work with obese, ginger Partner B was like "trying to nail a jelly to the wall". I replied "Orange Jelly?"

Unfortunately for me, Partner B had hacked into Partner A's emails the following day, then phoned me. Awkward!

Nothing terrible, but I have on multiple occasions forgotten to attach a resume to application emails. The body will say "please find requested application materials attached", and I'll just hit send after I proofread the damn thing. I always realize as soon as I do it. I also can't go back and be like, hello, I know I'm trying to present myself as competent enough to be hired, but I might have forgotten to attach the most vital part of this application.
