We were on the upper Holt.... feisty indeed... but we sat on our hands.. and my 2 villa mates were good cover.

It shows how far we have come that they were so happy to get an equaliser against little ol Brighton .....i was in the 1874 lounge section and they did seem a tad miffed at us celebrating ..bless them

There were a few bits in the Holt End and the North Stand where there were Corporate Brighton Groups. The Brighton fans didn't hold back in celebrating I heard. Police apparently dealt with them quite good as well. Apart from one Brighton fan who was on his own celebrating. Poor lad must be nursing a sore jaw this evening.

Newb BHA would fit you better.

Didn't see any problems in Doug Ellis stand upper. I was very good about not celebrating the penalty. My 'mate' who is a villa fan celebrated their goal as much as any leaving his Albion supporting wife and me sitting with our heads in hands. It must have been obvious to a few sitting just around us that we were Albion fans.

Few of us North Stand Lower (central). Whilst I think most of those around knew our allegiances, it was most certainly not a place to be wildly celebrating the scoring of a debateable (n their eyes) penalty.

It looked like the Brighton fan in the northstand who made his presence known when the penalty went in might have taken a bit of a kicking.....I notice outside of the south east that the local old bill encourage a bit of intimidation and were certainly not stopping some of the punches being thrown at him.....they also made no attempt to stop the ginger oaf in the white t-shirt of sprinting up the steps after the brighton lad (presumably to have a go at him outside)

For a bit of balance, I spoke to at least a dozen Villa fans ore and post match and every single one was congratulating us on our promotion and wishing us well. Didn't see any sign of jealously, aggression, nastiness. They were just very pleasant and complimentary about our team, club, manager and post match our fans who were generally considered to be the loudest away support at Villa Park, much louder than Newcastle and Mighty Leeds.

The bloke next to me in the stands said he had a bit of knowledge about police tactics when I said I was surprised that no Villa fans were arrested. He said that the police would probably have assessed the likelihood of causing a bigger problem by hauling out Villa fans there and then. He reckoned they would most likely nab him when he was away from the rest of that mob.

I'm with you though on having suspicions that the police subtly allowing a little bit of intimidation to deter away fans in home ends and to justify their presence. There's a video of a Leeds fan up at Newcastle a few weeks back where he was escorted out the home end and right through all the Newcastle fans as they left. Common sense surely says that is inflammatory. And let's not forget when Brighton police marched Palace fans right past pubs full of Brighton fans in Queens Road rather than direct them via a side road to the station.

I was in the north lower was tame at furthest point away from away end. But for the second half I moved close to the away end and was right next to the white t-shirt ginger nut. Kept quiet as was quite a few naughty lookers down there ha ha. But about 15 min after the fulltime whistle stood on the seats in the front row and unveiled my brighton shirt. Lasted about 5 minutes longer until a steward made me cover up and escorted me out.

Tbf spent the weekend up there and everyone I met was very friendly, only tit was in the square by the station after the game, "where's your effing trophy now"
