Great thanks for that banjo.
Your first idea of, today's cake stop, Goodwood is still in pole position Colin has a man on the inside of that one, but I'll certainly keep this in mind.

Nice carrot cake there today.

Look on Colin's version of our ride today, then come back here and talk about cake!

Oh and Shoreham airport.

He deserves fish n chips too.
He had enough time to stop off and eat some while I was toiling my way up 'climbs' that were never on that route, in my fitter days.

Shoreham airport is definitely the place to stop for some top quality cakeage.
Col looked like it was Christmas day when he saw that pastry, it would have got messy if the person in front had ordered it from under his nose.

Here's the Strava pre ride.

I'll be amazed if some of the roads used will be closed.
It's really odd to see what will be such a big event carried out on a route on which I have genuinely ridden every single inch.

I pre-registered for this a week or so ago.

Closed road routes are the best.

No reason not to believe it, Stat, when you consider the roads they close for the Tour of Cambridgeshire and Ride London, the two closed road sportives I have ridden previously.

I don't think it's possible to be so conflicted by a ride.
Closed roads = yay.
Pay a lot of money to ride a route without a single surprise = boo.

Oh and 1066 - we already know your opinion. :lolol:

Yes, I totally agree. I pre-registered but fully expect not to confirm my place when it comes down to it. I gave up UK sportives about three years ago.

This one has something, though.

I'm keeping my options open.

If only the temperature would drop down by another 20 degrees, I could dig this out of my cycling draw.

Very tempted.
If you are I'd definitely go for it.

It's a brilliant route that has pretty much all the bases ticked, weather permitting I can all but guarantee you'll love that ride.

Something to train for. I tiptoed onto the scales this morning. 15 stone. I'm a cat funt at the moment.

I'll have you know I paid good money (£10.50) to ride roads today that I also know every inch of.

Freezing cold winds, ice on quite a few of the lanes, 116 miles, nearly 9,000 ft of climbing AND I missed us take all 6 pts. It wasn't called Mad Jacks for nothing!
