However, in 3 months time we could be a Championship team, playing in the Championship, paying Championship wages. As you say, wages dictate these scenarios, I’d be surprised if we weren’t inserting a clause for wages to be reduced in the event of relegation. Sure, we’ll still perhaps attract a certain type of player, but we looked a solid mid table team a few short weeks ago and I’m confident that would have put us in a slightly stronger position for attracting players.

Next season is completely immaterial.
Nobody is looking to sign for the Albion to play for the Albion.
It's all about playing in the Premier League.

It makes no odds what division Brighton are in next season, matey rolls into town scores a few goals he'll be on the next train (rail replacement service) outta here with a contract that makes the one he signs now look like chicken feed.

Bolton have put a £6m tag on Gary Madine. 7 goals, 4 assists in a struggling Bolton side

Ok, let’s say it’s all about playing in the league. Matey rolls into town for Premier League football , does absolutely nothing for us we create zero chances, value tumbles and nobody wants him, he’s stuck with us, we’re stuck with them. See players like Abel Hernandez, Nikola Zigic, Gaby Agbonlahor.

If that were the case the club could offset mateys wages by firing the entire recruitment team.

The panic is over.

Tony has bought an end to the recruitment teams annual January retreat 'to get away from it all', communing with nature.
They will be back in the office today, after a good wash and scrub behind the ears.

Steven Naismith, Matt Jarvis, Jack Rodwell, Didier Ndong, Lamine Kone, Micah Richards, Mark Bunn, Steven Caulker (up until recently), Jack Colback last season, Newcastle's French flops that they still can't shift on, Ross McCormack (although he came in the Championship as "the striker that would fire them back up"), Fulham stuck with Kačaniklić, Amorebieta, Mitroglou and Stekelenburg on the books for years after going down, the list of deadwood high earners in the Championship goes on and on.

Madine has been convicted of several assaults. In November 2010 he was found guilty of causing actual bodily harm after attacking a man in a pub and sentenced to community service involving 250 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £1,500 compensation to his victim and £1,800 in costs.[67] In October 2013 he was jailed for 18 months after being found guilty of causing actual bodily harm and grievous bodily harm in two separate attacks.[68] Madine was released from jail on 20 February 2014 after serving 5 months of his 18-month sentence

Could be ok next year in championship though

I meant to include this:

According to 'L'Équipe', Argentine striker Emiliano Sala has rejected an offer from Brighton. The English club seemed interested in the tip of Nantes. A fixed man for Ranieri. #FCN #BHAFC
