Yup, I was fairly sure they were Typhoons and pulled up the compass on the car as was interested where they were heading (I was disorientated due to being worked too hard and was doing school run)

They have been doing it for decades, and we do the same thing. With aircraft, surface ships, and submarines.
We were sent into the Black Sea to see how long it was before we were interecepted
We had a Sverdlov Cruiser and escorts on us after a couple of hours after leaving the Bosphoru, preceded by several low
fly overs.
It is memorable for me as i was the signalman on watch.
They asked us what we were doing in the Black sea.
I didnt read what the Skipper had written until I got to the lamp.
