Losing your rag and ranting at a player

Oh and Leon 'Best' turning his back on the field of play to argue with the lino when the ball was about five yards away and the Albion were on the atack out by the opposition eighteen yard line. Just about summed the guy up. It was always about him, never about the team.

I would have thought keeping a clean sheet at Selhurst would redeem him, but it seems not.

I lost it with Kuipers, at Luton for pratting about, gifting them a goal, which eventually led to penalties, and denied us a game at Wembley.
Isn't keeping a clean sheet just doing his job for once? I stuck with Henderson longer than I should have personally but I was definitely incorrect. Awful 'keeper and 100% was a key factor in our relegation that season.

Generally, my football anger is aimed at referees but on the odd occasion I can lose it at one of our own:

- I nearly ruptured my spleen when Murray stopped running while chasing back against Leeds at Withdean (turns out the poor bugger had been playing with a hernia!);

- Gary Gardner. Not a specific time but every time the "free kick specialist" chipped a free kick high and wide, which was every time he took one;

- I got into several verbal spats with the gentlemen in front and behind at the Amex over Ashley Barnes to the point I actually got "Barnes 9" on my shirt. I rated him, they did not.

Surprised there's no mention of Craig Davies at MK Dons. He got shed loads of abuse that day!

There's always one who gets all po-faced in these threads and that's you. If you've ever celebrated wildly when Brighton score or the opposition miss a penalty (and we both know you have) then you're a hypocrite because you've allowed grown men kicking a ball about on a field to affect your emotions.

And I know you're fibbing. I've never met a football fan who hasn't once shouted at a ref for a bad decision or at a player for a bad tackle/pass/save/shot.

I had the hook, the line and the bait, but no one took it. :tumble:

Yes of course
I've shouted at a few refs and opposition players, but never my own to be honest.
I've been royally pissed off at some for sure.

When Barnes, kicked the ref at Bolton, I lost it and called him every name possible, he lost us the chance of getting anything out of that game and was a sulking idiot and hoped he. Ever put an Albion shirt on again, unfortunately he did.

He didn't even really deserve it either in hindsight, it wasn't lack of effort that was his problem, it was lack of ability. He was trying too hard if anything.

But yes, I was one of the hundreds launching abuse at him when the whole team deserved it in equal measure. Andy Whing was the only player out there that day that wasn't totally sub standard.

No you didn't because he didn't kick the ref. Most of us didn't know what the red card was for, because the ref's movement was so insignificant. We thought it was for dissent at the time.

Ryan Harley after his weak as piss penalty at millwall.

Very nearly got ejected from Elland Road after we conceded a penalty which Diouf then scored. Luckily my equilibrium was rapidly restored when the goal was swiftly followed by his red card. Odious little twerp.

There was only one incident i can really remember going off on one.

That was at the Priestfield and we were looking dire and Maskell was strolling around as if he didn't give a monkeys, so i did give him a bit of abuse and then walked around to the dugout and told Gritt to get Maskell off now as he was a waste of space and put a youngster on who actually had some desire (i can't remember who was on the bench).

And he did!!

Joe Bennett.

As he made another sideways pass while never really pushing to make himself available for a return. Consistently played within himself, did the minimum to show for the ball, or support in attack, which frustrates me more than anything if you can see someone has more in the locker, but they don't want to risk it. While it was never a rant, he'd often get a verbal volley from me.

1) In the family stand at Bournemouth (I had tickets from a player at the time) - 1992... Steve Cotterill went for a challenge with the keeper, and the keeper rolled around like he has been hit by a sniper...

I went effing mental (for no apparent reason) - with the token "You aren't even effing hurt you ****" very loudly (apologies to the kids... <shame>) - when a stretcher came out for him... he was out for months... oops.

2) Andy Petterson against Gillingham I think it was... 2002 - We had been bloody awful but had fought back to 3-2 and had a chance of salvaging something from the game... cue Petterson making a complete **** of himself and gifting a goal, and me using the c word more times in 10 seconds than I probably have since!!

3) David Livermore... Anyone who was at Walsall in 2009 will know exactly what I am talking about... the most inept defensive performance since Glenn Thomas (I didnt rant at that one, I was in too much shock!)

Firstly Darren freeman at Cheltenham for getting sent off then at the gaggle of albion fans for applauding him.

Also used to moan at pauL rogers and Paul Watson a lot. Not sure why now!

Oh yes - Darren Freeman, who spat on his OWN shirt to try to get the Cheltenham player sent off, after he had stamped on him... what a muppet!

when you look back Micky Adams did sign some "nasty bits of work" - Oatway, Carpenter, Freeman, El Abd, Stant (?), Carr, Crosby, Watson, Cullip, Aspinall (?) + + + ........... but got us what we wanted. Then there were the lightweights like Jamie Campbell, Brooker, Melton, plus the classy Zamora, Morgan, Blackwell, and the misfits Newhouse, Cameron. Plus the workhorses Mayo, Jones, Hart, Virgo and Butters. I'm sure there are more unclassified/keepers........Kuipers, Walton, Piercy,

Not sure where that came from...
