Warninglid aka Warninglight in mid Sussex was where the smugglers had a look out to signal to those that the 'coast was clear' of London bobbies for their importing
Sorry if I was a few yards out. That really alters the story, and I am sure that if you were looking out of a window in the Downs Hotel you would have seen it. Besides they actually lived up the road from the garage in a house named the Seahawk.

There was a short spell in the late 70's when someone stored a collection of grumble mags at the bottom of St Nicholas' Church graveyard behind a tombstone next to the Ear, Nose and Throat hospital. As a 12, 13 year old at the time this was quite a find.
