Jazz at the Philharmonic - mid 50's. On one stage you've got Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie, Gene Krupa etc all at their absolute peak.

Either that or Billie Holliday (with Chick Webb) during the Great Depression in whatever slum in Harlem she happened to be singing in.

I'd quite like to have been at the gig where Bowie, without telling the band, informed the audience that this was their last gig :lolol:

Great shout. I think he died a few months, certainly less than a year, later, rather than days...but still.

Yep - At the time I think this inaccurate bit of folklore fitted well with the Withnail theme of 'endings', it well befitted the film's vibe for people to believe that it was his tragic swansong. And I suppose blues is all the better for it's mythology.

I would imagine the first time Dark Side of the Moon was played as a whole would have been rather memorable...

I may be wrong but I don't believe Medicine Head have played it live all the way through. However The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd 😂
