Simgull deserves a crowd for his 200th, I shall attempt to make it. :albion2: Ahead of darts at the Brighton Centre and then the small matter of Harry Kane and his mates.

A big, fat, massive, THIS. I was out for three months with tendonitis, pushed it on my return (running and playing / coaching football in my late 40s, what was I thinking!) and then went out for five months with a groin strain and a return of the tendonitis. I literally did nothing for five months, got fat, rested, and started jogging again at Christmas. Although I was able to do the Brighton Half at the end of Feb it was 12 mins off my PB and that was deliberate.

Since then I have upped it by maybe half a mile a week, not stressed if I couldn't train and very gently adjusted my pace and diet. I'm now back to where I was three years ago but it's taken since last Christmas.

I'm glad you're getting back to your old beating Knocky marathon training best. Excellent prep and execution last time (bar the lost seven seconds), then hindered by injuries, gradual build up from that and now back on the game. You are a focused force, as predictive text says.

Talking of being back to where I was three years ago though I ran my fastest ever 1k (4.01) and 1 mile (6.35) on the seafront at lunchtime. It was very much wind assisted but if you're going to go for a few Strava segments you might as well do it with a force 7 at your back :lolol:

Great speed and great workout. Hope you turned the watch off running home.

Thanks - good to see you too. 21:33 best time at Hove Park for over 18 months but not quite beating my SB set at Hove Prom earlier this year.

Good to see someone in the 65-69 bracket ran 18:47 for an AG over 90%. - hope for us yet!

Cracking time anyway ! How do you think your times compare between the Prom and the Park (all other things being equal) ? I sense the prom is slightly faster despite the turns......

90%....wow.......

Happy 200 and 150th parkrun to the Simgulls.
Interestingly my 21:27 was the same time as I last ran at Hove Park in July and the best for just over 2 years at Hove Park. Legs felt heavy today and took it slightly easy for first half.
Feel I'll be able to match the 20:30 SB at the Prom in November but not sure by how much.

Congratulations to Simgull - no show from me today. I've had a chest infection this week and the last couple of days I've been up at 3am coughing up my lungs. This morning I struggled to get back to sleep and then rolled over at 8:55, too late even for me so I just napped in until 11! Standard.

Bright10 training starts either tomorrow or monday!

It was pretty rough. How did you get on mate?

Average to crap.....been struggling with some sort of GERD/acid reflux issue when at high intensity. Was ok for 4k but spent the last few mins trying not to puke (then did puke immediately after finishing). Got a list of things to try/eliminate to see if I can work out what’s triggering it. Very frustrating.

Organic apple cider vinegar with the mother could be beneficial. I can't remember how it works but it helps to alkalise the bad acids in the stomach. Not easy to drink so you may wish to make a hot cup of water with honey or sugar and add a tablespoon.

Make sure it's organic with the mother from a health food shop otherwise the beneficial bacteria would have been destroyed by the pasturisation process. I get through 3 litres a year and make my own now.

I'll put my tin hat away now...........

No tin hat needed, thanks - will give it a try, although not why my mother needs to be there ? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Congrats to Simgull and Mrs Simgull, fantastic achievements. Sorry I missed it (looks like a bumper NSC turn-out, too) – I also had football duties for Jnr Bobkin, as well as cake delivery duties for MRS Bobkin. Besides that, my mojo has buggered right off and I'm knackered – didn't get up until about 9:30 Sunday and couldn't really get up on Saturday either. I've run seven miles in two weeks, the weight is coming back on and I've got nothing to focus on. It's fair to say the past few months have well and truly caught up with me!

It's a completely normal 'post massive event' reaction mate - don't worry about it, happens all the time. It'll pass soon enough. In the meantime...............

It would take me months to put weight on after that. Hove Park was good. 4 NSC runners, 8 places and 8 seconds apart. Two huge mosquito bites on each shin. Feel like shin splints. B******s.

Change of Parkrun tactics for me over next few weeks. Hit first mile at 6:30-6:45 mile pace, sit back for 1.6 miles and then run for home. Need to prepare physically and mentally for the big push in November, whilst still holding something back.

The weight has crept up on me, having been eating like a horse and getting away with it for 10 days or so.

Your parkrun approach sounds like a good plan. If you're at the park, I might start with you, but even my sprint finish probably won't be enough to catch you at the end. I'm switching to the short stuff for a while (Beachy aside) and really want to get that 5k time down to where it was/should be.

No road spring marathon next year, so I'm gonna kick on and hopefully head for sub-21 again in 2019! Time for another training plan, I think...

Doing the Windsor Olympic triathlon for the 3rd time next June. penny's harmonica will be there. Be a junior, mini, Sprint Tri for you. Interested? Any other runners interested? nwgull?

Will need to reassess my fear of a 10K and embrace the ****.

Far too soon to be entering into triathlons for next summer! I've hardly looked at my bike since the Ironman and am just running and swimming at the moment, but I'll probably be back on the turbo by December.
