We're not going to Wemberleeey
But we don't give a ****
'Cause we know we're going up
and Brighton are the greatest football team

Since when, seeing as it has been sung all over the country, including by teams like Bristol and alike and even by our fans in the past so why is it now considered a northern chant only?

I remember watching a TV documentary, years ago, about Millwall's hooligan firm. They were planning a trip "up north".

To Bristol City.

As discussed on another thread, it's a horrible HORRIBLE northern monkeys song, sung by the likes of Burnley and Port Vale.

Don't ruin it now.

PG

I always associated it originally with Portsmouth from '86/87...they seemed to always be singing it with their 3 or 4 promotions through the '80s. But then what I associate things with, and the actual reality are very often 2 completely different things...

I must confess to have a liking for the song and enjoyed singing it in the late 80's/early 90s but it is a bit Barry Lloyd for me now.

I would love it if we could steal a song I heard in Germany where they sing about being Champions . If we were to translate it it would be

(To the tune of auld Lang syne)
When you ask me who'll be champions
Then I will say to you
It can only be the Sussex boys
Who play in white and blue

Imagine having our own song and not stealing a northern one .
