What is he playing at ?

It's simple - Putin and his cronies run a massive kleptocracy, and take as much wealth from the state as possible. They don't want to give this up, and so the entire policy is to preserve his hold over Russia. This means not letting Ukraine's overthrow of the Ukrainian kleptocrats set an example to the Russian people - it must fail and be seen to do so.

The military muscle flexing is just posturing, bluff and bluster.

lol, now that would make the G20 interesting......I would imagine that we would be looking for a new PM after nut job Vlad had completed his well thought out response :)
