When Heene Rd baths closed the idea of the Aquamarina was to have an Olympic size pool but they got the measuements wrong and made it fractionally too small so couldnt be used for national competitions. Is the new one big enough for that?

No, it was too expensive to maintain / heat an Olympic size pool so they didn't bother

As this thread is still ticking over I'll add another point.

The pool, Worthing, now has a water polo team.
A big LED board by the pool was displaying there upcoming fixture.

Worthing v Carlisle - Car freakin lisle
The Albion couldn't afford trips to Carlisle for football.
Unless they are swimming there, who the frick is funding that.

As it as just reappeared, and never seen it before, would just like to add a response to the original question.

Council backhanders.
There were many better and cheaper designs than the current one that was built, though the reasons why have never been properly answered.
The Thai/Chinese restaurant on Lancing seafront, similar story.
TEVILLE BLOODY GATE??? don't get me started................xxx

The original Aquarena was shrouded in controversy from the start. The original developers used high alumina cement in various developements around Worthing in the 1960's and eventually went belly up.This era helps to illustrate the "brown envelope" dimension to Worthing politics, which some locals think continues to the present day.

The Triangle in Burgess Hill is a shit hole

Pottings go there quite a lot and enjoy it - particularly the bit where you can bob around in the current outside in all weathers (don't think the lifeguard who has to sit outside in January is quite so keen though).

Is it the pool or the clientele (maybe it is us???).

Sovereign centre in Eastbourne is another favourite, did mean to try Pells Pool at Lewes this summer but fear that we may have missed the weather window for that.
