My go to cocktail is a Caeser which is basically a Canadian version of a Bloody Mary. I make mine with tequila rather than vodka, and have to find the clamato juice online but with a good amount of worcester sauce and tabasco its lovely.

Here at the humble grass hut, a little sodden by Hurricane Lane but still standing (for now) it's mai tais all the way.

HOWEVER the Brazilian Daiquiri is not to be easily ignored for a decent pre-planned BENDER:
Makes 12 cocktails, you'll need a big pitcher and at least 24 hours to marinate
1 cup light rum
1 cup dark rum
3/4 cup spiced rum
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise (or a few drops vanilla essence)
1 sweet pineapple (eg Maui Gold), peeled, cored and sliced into 8
2 tablespoons light brown sugar

Place everything in the pitcher, cover and let sit 24-48 hours at room temp.
Strain and serve in champagne flutes or martini glasses.

Bottoms up!
And repeat:whisky:

On the list at Cumulus, off Flinders Lane in Melbourne, The Wedgee, a take on a dark and stormy.

One shot sloe gin, one shot west winds gin, full squeeze of half a lime, ginger syrup, grated ginger. Shake over ice.
Strain and serve, add 75ml ginger beer and orange twist. Easy to do, refreshing.

I propose the Godfather - whiskey of your choice (or whisky) with Amaretto over ice. If you want it long add cola.

For a shot - Aftershock, vodka and Absinthe in layers.
For a Jägerbomb - the D12 -red bull with two shot glasses, flaming sambuca in one, absinthe in the other.

I guess you have to like rum quite a bit to enjoy that cocktail, which I don’t, but stuff it I’ll give it a try!

My daughter and son in law are here for a few days next week and they are big rum fans, so it would be rude not to.
