Although these guys (ISIS) are not the "original" group who carried out 9/11. They were just a bunch of terrorists.

Today's "ISIS" would never have existed in this organized way without the "war on terror" & the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as recruitment. The threat we face today is a predictable consequence of our mistakes over the past decade, and sadly it seems they may not even have been "mistakes" at all.

My company recently did some work for the Saudi Bin Laden Group regarding the Mataf expansion at Mecca. They said (tongue in cheek) that we would have to convert to Islam if we wanted to visit site.

I guess that you believe that remote controlled planes were flown into the Trade Centre.

When I lived in Saudi, if you werent muslim, you were unable to travel into Mecca..maybe things have changed.

If it is about Saudi Arabia then this kind of thing looks even worse than it did at the time:

WASHINGTON, March 26 - The episode has been retold so many times in the last three and a half years that it has become the stuff of political legend: in the frenzied days after Sept. 11, 2001, when some flights were still grounded, dozens of well-connected Saudis, including relatives of Osama bin Laden, managed to leave the United States on specially chartered flights.

Now, newly released government records show previously undisclosed flights from Las Vegas and elsewhere and point to a more active role by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in aiding some of the Saudis in their departure.

The F.B.I. gave personal airport escorts to two prominent Saudi families who fled the United States, and several other Saudis were allowed to leave the country without first being interviewed, the documents show.

Oh do catch up, this was presented and proved as a fact in Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004, and even Condoleezza Rice said the attacks could have been prevented.

Probably just confirms what a massive cluster**** the whole thing was from a US perspective. One of the US channels (Nat Geo I think) ran a very good program showing how just about anything that could go wrong did go wrong from the point of view of the US Government, the intel services, the FAA etc.

I don’t see it as being anything very sinister, just very embarrassing for the powers that be.

Haven't Governments been doing this throughout history. As an example why are the Stephen Ward papers around the Profumo affair still under lock and key 50 years after the events.

There were a few prominent people who changed their flight arrangements around the time, Attorney General John Ashcroft being one of them.

To be fair to [MENTION=18559]dingodan[/MENTION] on this particular thread, he's been very good in only posting links without reaching any outrageous conclusions. His second post you quoted contains no conspiracy theory as it links to a real story. I guess we can jump the gun and second guess he's posting it to suggest a conspiracy plot (based on past postings), but to be fair to him he's not stated that at this point.
