They'll never have the cajones to block a team so high up in the football pyramid from promotion. They'll issue a few sternly worded emails and maybe even fines, but that'll be it.

If they have a contractual obligation to the EFL to take 3 teams coming up in exchange for 3 going down then I would assume that this would take priority because they would be sued by all 3 clubs going up, the EFL and potentially a class action by the all season ticket holders for the 3 promoted clubs (the emotional damages from 50,000+ STH missing out on PL football would wipe out even their bulging coffers).
What they would of course do is allow Reading up but then tell the club to change owners and give them a season or two to comply.
Every single 1901 member suing them for lost business because they couldn't invite a potential client to a jolly against ManU or Chelsea!

Are we back in the 1970s?
Presumably there were obligations in the past to allow a conference team into the FL, but if they didn't have the ground, they weren't allowed in. And the contract could easily state that the team has to meet certain criteria. And all they'd have to do is give the place to the team that lost the playoff final.
Why would the top two teams also sue?
If your owner fails the fit and proper person test, how do you then comply?
So what do you think of it all, is it good news, bad news?

Cautiously optimistic. After the excitement of Zingarevich taking over and it all going tits up, some fans are understandably nervous. But at least these guys actually have their own money.
They've recently taken over a club in Belgium and cleared all their debts.

If they failed to meet the criteria set for promotion to the Premier they could just relegate 2 clubs instead of 3 using that failure as the reasons. Who would then sue just Reading nobody else would be interested as it doesnt affect them or their position..
