Have just looked up PP's CV on Wikipedia. Her whole professional life seems to be divided between acting as a lobbyist for the tobacco and alcohol industries and being a time-serving politician. It's hard to find anything to like about Ms Patel.

story doesnt quite add up though, shirely no10 would say to inform the FO of the visit, to avoid exactly this embarrassment. bearing in mind the meeting wasnt secret with the other party taking photo ops and twitting about the meetings. unless of course even No10 is incompetent, which can be discounted these days.
