Yep, good to see you too. That's the last time I tell you I'll take it easy though............

Set out for 6 miles steady state and was nailing even pacing for 4.5 miles. Then the unmistakable shooting pain of cramp down the back of the right leg. I had forgotten to drink my morning pint of water (I have this EVERY day even if I'm not running  ), had emptied my bladder and I'd had a couple of strong IPAs last night. Stopped immediately but had to stretch and then hobble to a shop to get water. No permanent damage, except to my ego but I do feel a bit of a Pompey Fan. Carnage here https://www.strava.com/activities/1479269359
Ah mate! Hope there's no lasting damage. I too had to go for the old early morning pint (of water) having popped to the Adur Beer Festival last night. Fuzzy head cleared pretty much straight away.

ParkRun check in.

Massive PB for me of circa 18 minutes at Hove Prom.

Actually my Strava says that my 5K PB is 17:59, on the activity it says 18:25 and in Garmin it says 18:24.

Will have to wait for the chip time.

Great running. Am I right in thinking yourself, Ninja Elephant & Curious Orange are all running the marathon in two weeks?

Also have The Complete Badger who for a relative newcomer seems well placed to post sub 3:30.

Could be a very interesting battle for top spot

18:05 for the new 5K champion today and top of the table he goes. I'll get onto that now.

Sunny Lowestoft Parkrun for me today. Nice course along lower and upper Prom. Strange yellow powdery stuff on the beach though almost as odd as that yellow thing in the sky. 22:01 and 37th out of around 370.

New Leader of the table. Ben Elton's Brother has an SB and I dug out a park run for St Leonards Seagull
Glad I'm hanging onto Age Grade first place without opening the throttle yet this year.

Unfortunately I think that “cramp” was a slight muscle pull. Woke up with back of top of knee very stiff. Can walk but the slightest jog sends a cramp like pain up the back of my right leg.

Have done RICE this morning but now off to walk to The Swan and up to the WSU. No long run tomorrow but have a week off to run in if it eases off.

Don’t rule out a bit of neural tension - feels very much like cramping/tightness as the muscle tense up to protect the nerve from damage (and will tear). This is worth a watch

Thanks knocky1 I was absolutely tanked at the end and couldn't get my name out to the volunteer. Figured it was my last chance to get some real speed in before BM so went all out. I'll look into Pheonix 10k.

Hopefully there will be a trifecta of sub 3:05 NSCers come two weeks time.

It’s going to be very interesting and you could make a strong case for all three.

I’ll be tracking them on the day with the hope all three Pb

In Hamburg and did a lovely 5 miler around the Alster lake this morning. First time using the new Garmin and it was rather nice seeing my route around the lake in Strava shortly after finishing.

Need to work on weight and speed over the coming weeks as I’m off my ideal pace at the moment.

Parkrun tourism continued today with the very wet and muddy Banbury Parkrun. Pleased with my 24 min time and that completes a 100 mile month for me.

Happy to report I celebrated my 40th birthday - and 250th parkrun - with a SW 26 and a bit minutes [emoji23][emoji23]

Not a sprint finish but did cross the line with my mum and daughter, which was an experience!

Congrats and thanks for the Birthday cake.
I'll be checking the Parkrun photos to see if there are any of that bloke with the crown on his head making his ears stick out.....

Nice 20k along the Suffolk coast this morning, including around 10k on the beach itself.

Two weeks to go- can start looking at the long range weather forecast now.
