The first we caught wind of this was a helicopter landing opposite our office in Parliament Square. The police have cordoned off the area where my building is but we have been told there is "no threat to our building".

We are now, like everyone else, monitoring the news reports.

A police officer has been stabbed in the Houses of Parliament in central London, Commons Leader David Lidington has said.
He told MPs the "alleged assailant was shot by armed police" following a "serious" incident.
Staff inside Parliament were told to stay inside their offices.
The BBC's Laura Kuenssberg said police told her someone had been shot and MPs said they heard "three or four gunshots".

According to the BBC, it seems the two people 'shot' was actually one person shot, and one person stabbed. Someone stabbed a police officer, and that person was subsequently shot.

A 4x4 ran over a number of people on Westminster Bridge. The same vehicle then crashed into the gates of the Palace of Westminster. Subsequently, someone was seen trying to make their way into the building, at which point he was challenged by 2 police officers. One of those was stabbed, the other ran for help, and subsequently the person was challenged by two plain-clothed officers, and attacker was shot.

What the hell was that BBC news presenter gesticulating about? She looked like she was making a cut throat gesture - disgusting.

There was further footage on Sky News of someone in one of the stairwells leading up to Westminster Bridge who may have been thrown from the bridge as the vehicle hit people.

Guardian:

A senior police source has confirmed that Scotland yard’s counter terrorism command involved in investigation following this afternoon incidents.
The early police view emerging from the chaos is there were probably two sites of attack.
Westminster Bridge where people may have been run over. Parliament itself where appears officer stabbed and attacker shot.

Plans for a London wide emergency have been put into place as a precaution. Police are hopeful the incidents are over.
