Josh King. Played for Manchester United and made a cup appearance at the age of 18. Exactly the same as this lad, and now he might not even make our team. Just because they are a youth player signed to a big club (and have made one 1st team appearance) doesn't make them better than an established Championship striker.

To be fair, I thought Joshua King looked pretty bloody dangerous when Rovers were here.

 I could have picked some better examples, but this guy was too perfect with his ages and appearances for United.

Some people on here are cumming in their panties over a player who, on paper, appears no better than Ulloa OR Barnes, yet must be ****ing amazing because he's played for Barcelona once. He's 18, he won't have an impact if he comes here. Unless we sign him permanently I'm thoroughly underwhelmed by this 'gossip'.

To be fair I can't see anyone cumming their pants or saying he is brilliant.

What's been said is clearly he is a better player than Barnes who is a reasonable championship striker.

To be fair what's been said is that he may or may not be better than Barnes (in terms of scoring goals rather than skills). It is primarily you and BW who are adamant that he MUST be better.

Well Barnes record at championship level is 1 in 4 which I'd say is reasonable.

I can't imagine Barca would be playing someone and including them at 18 if they weren't special. As has been mentioned compare him to Deulofeu, also only just broke into Barca first team squad for cup games, on loan to Everton and playing well and regularly in the Premier League.

For sure he looks a very skillful player with fantastic potential. If he continues to progress he will be very good indeef. Howrver, the question is not how skillful he is or what he could become. The question is will he score more goals than Barnes in the next 20-odd matches?
History says that very few 18 year olds anywhere have ever maintained peak performance in a senior league. The odds are vastly against it.
So he may be exciting and have potential and skill to burn and yes I would love him here.
But to assert that he must be better than what we have just doesnt hold water and if he did come then the weight of expectation is crazy when the probability is that he cant live up to it. If we can get him then great, but dont overplay him and dont expect too much.

Excellent post, summed up what I wanted to say.

The Spanish La Liga is probably weaker than the Championship, apart from the top 3 or 4 sides. Spanish Segunda Division is more like on par with L1 or the SPL.

Not quite as good as the guy on the argus site that compared the Spanish division to the English conference but not a bad effort.
