got an e mail from AO about starting Black Friday this week, a week early but dont need a cooker or Freezer etc.

Ah, silly me ..... I thought I would take a peek at Amazon and indeed there at some amazing deals on there, trouble is, there is nothing I need either

Don't forget Cyber Monday - another chance to buy crap you don't need at discounted prices

Do Amazon prices go down further on the actual black Friday day or are these early deals the full discount?

We're all round my grandparents this christmas. Buying them an echo should be a laugh. Anyone have the echo show?

Do I need it?
Can I afford it?
Can I get cheaper anywhere else?

Most of Amazon ‘deals’ fall at the first hurdle IMO. Dislike using them enormously from the packaging waste, tax avoidance, worker rights et al. Stopped buying books from them ages ago and buy through a lovely independent near me that opened up year or so ago and seems to be thriving. It’s a joy to browse round! Plus the charity shops are awash with quality books if you don’t mind a pre thumbed, especially the specialist ones. My local Oxfam even has rare, first editions and antiquities! So sorry, avoid Amazon where I can but if I do, I’ll do through NSC as that makes sense. But Super Local Saturday or whatever they call it is far better use of the old pennies.

I've just purchased an Echo for my wife for Xmas (via the NSC link), plus I got sent a code from Amazon the day before yesterday for £10.00 off any purchase over £50, so made it even cheaper at £59.99 with free delivery. Very happy with this.

Black Friday.

Otherwise known as Amazon use one day to screw over every other retailer. I know it pays NSC ad revenues, but I can see Black Friday being great for the behemoths and bad for the small guys. Hey ho, that's life.

Are you a retailer? As a consumer I welcome competition, it benefits me and serves to lower prices.

Americanised originated nonsense it may be, and I doubt anyone here would queue outside a store at 2am in order to fight over a slightly-reduced dodgily-branded widescreen TV.

Additionally, Black Friday isn't until next week but in the fine spirit of these things, some sales have already started. Post any bargains you find in order to help part other NSCers from their money.
