Last season we signed 14 players over summer and only one didn't make the grade (Ivan Paurevic). In fact 10 of the 14 players at Wembley were brought in last season...Wagner does know what he's doing, he ain't no Dale Winton.

Anyway, Mathias Jorgensen will be announced today :)

We have better centre backs on our bench!

More interested in our future signings than Huddersfield's to be brutally honest.

So with that, all that remains is to wish them good luck against Palace on the opening day.

:albion2:

That's as may be but seeing as we are not making signings at the moment we can gnash our teeth that one of our relegation rivals have probably completed their signings before pre-season training starts in earnest. Don't pretend it doesn't grate a little

So the previous top man had a good success rate, then? Bodes well for Norwich.

Good luck for next season, though.

Good for you. Another signing that wouldn't get in our team ;)

Must be a huge pay gap between 3 or 4 of the new signings and the rest of the squad at Hudds, they had a very small budget last season.

And the like of Mooy and the new striker etc are not going to turn up for less than 30k a week maybe more... thats going to take some dealing with...

Of course it does, and they have that more time to work together and prepare in pre-season (though given the number of loans they had last year, perhaps they need it).

I will certainly be happier when we have sorted a few more out.

Don't hold your breath, we have already been told our business will not be completed by the time we play City. Hopefully we will get a few in before then rather than 6 or 7 panic deadline day signings a la Palace when they went up and couldn't attract decent players.

It's an interesting one. On the face of it then yeah, Stuart Webber was instrumental to our success last season, however, the majority of players that were brought in were from the German leagues. No one will ever know how much influence he had vs. Wagner, but the way we've cracked on this summer suggests that it was limited.

The fact that Norwich have brought in BVB2's manager implies that Webber is trying to carbon copy. He was the one that brought Wagner over, so we'll always be thankful for that, however, the way that he just dropped us when we started to stall at the end of the season wont be forgotten. He chose to leave out the back door rather than the front and that says a lot about a man. So yeah, will be interesting how it plays out at Norwich this year.

Good luck to you guys too. Had a soft spot for you ever since the 2011 season run-in and looking forward to us both showing up the big boys this year!

They must be buying players in the Americas today. Still early there.

That's a good point. I would imagine that Hoyle will try and solve it by offering huge bonuses to everyone if we stay up.

Huddersfield have bought or are in for loads of middling or above average Championship players, and none of them convince me they'll stay up - including Mooy.

Give me our quiet approach where we end up snaffling excellent but unheard of or underrated players from overseas. All day long.

I really wish I could share your optimism :/

Hey Icy. Nearly all clubs don't complete all their business 3 weeks before the transfer window closes.
Its a myth to suggest otherwise and infer that clubs that do are somehow behind or at a disadvantage.
Here's Hughton's actual quote:
I don’t think it’s a problem saying [we could be making signings in the last 3 weeks of the window] It’s teams in general.
“You have only got to look at the history of the transfer market and the amount of work that is done in the last month.
