Burke is dim and distant past now.

We can only dream of a recruitment team able to buy 3 players for less than £4m, total, who pretty much guaranteed promotion.

I suspect you are right. Question is can they/will they wait given that even VVD moves there is no guarantee we will get Gomez even then? Others are interested after all. A difficult position for the club and probably one of many.

The one thing the club won't do (which is what many on here want them to do) is panic. There's a long time left, and the aim is to get the best quality we can get for the most reasonable prices, which is a difficult juggling act.
I think we'll see at least five new faces, with at least two coming after the season starts; there may be more, which will enable us to offload a few players.

How many equally talented players, have we scouted in the positions that we need. Certainly more than one ,my guess at least 10 for each position, I can agree that the under 21 mix, could prove a problem,as IMO we do need at least 2 . The longer the wait goes on the better the player.......!

I am not so sure - I do worry that the budget and other parameters being used are proving too restrictive; if you are going to play dice until deadline day you can't then offload players because you dont know that you are going to replace. That was Burnley's problem with DS last season.

I am not panicking but I wouldnt mind seeing something that sends the message "F*** it, we are going for this. Wake up PL, the Albion are here."

I suspect we'll see at least one big signing before the season starts. I'd estimate that we'll spend £20m-£30m more this window. But I might be wrong on that. We'll see.

Delaney and Kruse would be superb, never going to happen but it's a nice thought.

After seeing what a good understanding Suttner and Gross have, a midfielder like Delaney along with Kruse, used to playing with each other as well...wow.. I would feel very comfortable about our first year, but like you say...

It's fair to say we have spent about 11-12 mill so far on 3 players ( 2 as replacements). We supposedly bid 12 mill for Delaney and 8 ish for Neto so if we didn't spend another 20-40 million I'd be amazed.. in comparison Huddersfield spent around 40 mill.
We don't need the numbers, it's the quality.. cm 15 mill, striker 15-20 mill, winger 3-5 mill, loans and a freebie GK. and at same time we will see RI,RT,ON and maybe TH depart on loans and sales..

Agree with all that, but will probably add KLL and maybe even JS into that outbound list

Be nice to see some movement this week. All very quiet on the rumours front however, Not sure if that's good or bad.
22 players used Saturday including lua lua and towell but missing Ak and Baldock so loads to do.

You do wonder how much DB was scapegoat; SH clearly was useless identifying targets and even more useless working with the players he did have, he was embroiled in Cat 1 status application, and he did bring in some useful players. Wonder how different it might have been for him had CH started in summer 2014.

Saw Baldock at Victoria railway station on Thursday afternoon, he was in plain clothes but with a club physio (or similar) in full training gear. Sam did have a bit of a limp - wonder if they were on their way to see a specialist in London? They were heading out of the station...

I think I read somewhere that Wagner has said that Udders won't be making any new signings for a while, until he has seen how his new additions fit into his squad, and if they need anymore recruits. This smacks a bit of palaces first season in the Premier under Wurzel when they bought so many they had to ship some out on loan. I prefer our way, patience, targeted recruitment.

'Udders squad will be, as we speak, marooned on some midge infected deserted island in the Baltic somewhere, eating insects and whatever else they can catch, sleeping rough, buggering each other senseless in the name of team bonding and wishing they'd paid a bit more attention to how to light a fire in the bush on one of those bushtucker tv programmes on the Discovery Channel.
