Thought he came across very well

Clearly sees is role as developing route from talent spotting young players and delivering them into first team squad years later

Sounded like he will be quite hands on re transfers too

Suspect we will look back at his appointment in three, five years time same way we now do re CH arrival being the start of something rather good in the long term

Suspect CH will still be here long after DA has been and gone. Despite what Barber and his apologists maintain, DA will be treading on toes in size ten boots all over the club heirarchy. Could hardly be otherwise. All of his role/responsibilities will currently fall within the current role/responsibilities of others within the club. Expect a flurry of resignations shortly after he takes up the post as various club officials see their power and influence eroded. How could there possibly be any other outcome?

you speak as if you are in the know but what you say highlights a distinct lack of inside info. Do you not think that everything TB and PB do are intended to be in the best interests of the club, or do you think they are constantly trying to edge people out?

Not in the know in any shape or form and would never claim to be. But think about it: every single function that DA is being brought in to have influence over is currently within the domain of somebody else currently employed by the club. How on earth could there fail to be a flurry of politicking and probably flouncing when DA starts to tread on their turf? How could it ever be otherwise? Anybody who ever worked in any large organisation will have seen similar turf wars.

fair enough, but not done for the sake of it. Sometimes executive management realise that their management structure needs fine tuning, or that it needs a shake up. These decisions are not made on a whim. Inevitably as the club grows a more hierarchical structure will develop. A flat structure often indicates too much hands on/interference by executives, or a contracting business.

Have you read what his role is ?

Because I’m not sure who is currently overseeing all parts of the football operation at the club and having a long term strategy in how we run it from top to bottom.

Also it’s been said before that various members of staff, Winstanley an example who is doing more than his actual remit.

Or, as could also be the case, PB/TB (or anyone in charge of this appointment) have looked at the roles/responsibilities of the various people and felt that they want them to concentrate on other areas of their job in more depth, so they've bought him in to take the load off so they can be more effective in those particular roles?

If you are talking about what goes on at Lancing I don't think you could be more wrong

No, his post doesn't come across as if he's in the know - any more than you are - it just comes across as an opinion. Yes, of course TB and PB are doing the best they can to advance and improve the club (I doubt if anyone on NSC has ever doubted that!), but there's still no guarantee that they'll get every decision right every time.
There's a lot to get excited about with Ashworth's appointment - but there are obviously potential pitfalls too. I Hope this goes the right way and doesn't upset any apple carts.

Or, as could also be the case, PB/TB (or anyone in charge of this appointment) have looked at the roles/responsibilities of the various people and felt that they want them to concentrate on other areas of their job in more depth, so they've bought him in to take the load off so they can be more effective in those particular roles?
Yes, let's hope that is the case. If they get it right, it should be very good for us - but as has also been suggested, there are potential pitfalls.

The wife thought he looked like a tramp, or at best he got dressed in the dark, she said she’d never let me out of the house dressed like that.
