However, he has stated that he will stand down as UKIP leader if he fails to become an MP in the election.

Its extremely close either way , the UKIP candidate stood for the Conservatives in 2010 and was only 700 odd votes behind Labour. One thing in favour of the Labour candidate is that she was born in Grimsby whereas Austin Mitchell (the former MP) is a Yorkie.

He also said that Ukip would win up to 40 seats. Technically I suppose he will be correct but between 1 and 5 isn't what people expected when he said it!
