Terrible decision by Dean (yet again). Glad the Sky pundits have laid in to him so much. That said Jones should be embarrassed for rolling around like a bitch and as usual all the Utd players ran straight to the ref to complain.

From the BBC match feed thing:

Niall Quinn on the other channel has called Sofiane Feghouli's red card a "rank bad decision" and says he is "put off by The Complete And Utter Shyster's arrogance alone".

Just think gents, if we do go up this season we could probably see The Complete And Utter Shyster at the Amex two or three times a season!

EDIT: I would love it if Niall Quinn had actually said 'The Complete and Utter Shyster'

Mike Dean allowed a player to knock a yellow card out of his hand, this and this alone tells you all you need to know about his ability to be a referee.

Shocking ref, should be removed from his job.

****.

He was off the ground. But 9 out of 10 referees would give a yellow.

Then again, 9 out of 10 referees wouldn't point at a cut on someones leg as reason to justify a red card would they.

Mike Dean would.

Making a complete mess of it all now . Time he was relegated to Championship matches

Doyou really still think hes fit to be trusted to referee a £100m championship game ???

He should be sacked for being completely useless and unable to referee any game at any level

Ought to be sacked, he lacks the judgement and responsibility that is required of a referee at his level. He deals out straight red cards like he's trying to reach a quota.

Just seen it on MOTD. Lots of similarities to the Stephen's decision: It was actually the other player who was making the more dangerous challenge and Dean influenced entirely by the nature of the injury/play acting. Disgraceful.

He wasn't even looking at the challenge it was the United tart rolling around I think if he was going to book somoene it should have yellow for both players or nothing he ruined the game for the fans and West Ham players with any luck he will be relegated next season and we go up and miss him.

Think you need to let it go now.

Your going to go up this season as potential Champions and have the basis of a decent PL squad, enjoy it!

He's hardly seen the incident - he looks straight away from it following the ball and then only looks back when he probably hears Jones yelling and sees him rolling - so then gives a red. Very similar to the Stephens one in that he clearly changes his mind based on player reaction. Not good enough. The WHU guy is a bit late - Jones' challenge delicious in my old fashioned book of tackling btw... But collisions like that happen in football - it's becoming silly now what these refs give cards for.

Fed up with trains. Sick of the rain.
This from The Guardian reporter:

'With 15 minutes gone the key moment in the match arrived. Michail Antonio chested the ball back towards Feghouli, who stretched to reach the ball, as did Jones. No studs were raised. It looked like a hard but fair challenge, although Jones came off worse. The referee took his time and then flourished – the word is apt – a straight red card.

It was a poor decision in many ways, a needless intervention that skewed the entire night for players, TV viewers and the near 57,000 people inside the stadium. As mistakes go it was at least on a fittingly Olympian scale, in keeping with the hauteur of a referee whose sweeping gestures suggest each match he attends is a spectacle made up of three interlocking forces, Team A, Team B and Mike D'.
