I've been trying to spot it for years, realise now I've been looking in the wrong direction. My garden faces south so assumed it would be low on the horizon looking southwards but not tonight, I happened to look virtually overhead but northwards when I saw what must have been it as it was travelling west to east. It appeared to be triangular shape or at least the lights were, could one of you guys confirm if that is what it was, cheers

From my perspective - in Southwick - it was high up in the sky almost overhead as I had to crane my neck.

It definitely came from south west and travelled north east. Couldn't make out its shape though.

I may have been looking at the wrong thing on reflection as what I watched came east to west ( confusing ) I will go out again at 00.48 as it is scheduled to reappear then at max trajectory of 74 degrees this time I will ensure I look west through to east. Thanks for replying Whitelion.

No problem - when I was out there were definitely other craft in the sky as I could see one with aircraft navigation lights.

You have to look really high in the sky as it approaches but if you look to the south west before (a few minutes) it's due you should get a great view of it.

Thanks Whitelion, I took your advice and went out a few minutes early and watched the iss as it appeared on the horizon, it went virtually overhead and set in the east. Very visible, I will take pleasure in showing the mrs tomorrow evening, thanks again.

Has become a bit of a Christmas Eve tradition in our household to watch it go over. Tell the kids its Santa, although I think we'll struggle with getting the oldest to play along this year. The first year, they both legged it down the road trying to chase it.

I was watching this with my wife. She said, "ooh, that's not going very fast is it"?
I said it's travelling at over 17,000 miles per hour, It's just done Brighton to Malaga in 5 minutes. A blank expression was her response.
