He was also on the West Stand balcony waving to the fans on the pitch when Bloom was doing the same with Barber and his family, but they were not together, Dick was standing away to TB's right. As you allude to in your other post, it's a shame they don't get on as it would have been a lovely touch for them to be photographed together.

Unfortunate that they don't get on but only room for one man at the top. Doesn't help that Dick (like many fans) disagrees with the commercialisation of the club. I think he would genuinely rather we had stayed small (and lower league) than expand as we have. It's hard to see a middle path between his way and Bloom/Barber's just as it's hard to see their relationship ever being more amicable than it is.
Doesn't change that they both have a massive place in our history and as such are both appreciated by fans for their contributions.

Sadly, I think that is exactly the case. Plus, they were coming at how to run the club from very different financial perspectives. There was bound to be a clash there I suppose, but such a shame there isn't room for DK to be a proper part of all this after he's done so much.

With Councillor Morgan proposing both Tony Bloom and Chris Hughton for Freedom of the City, it would be only right if Dick Knight was included, and all three were proposed.

He was on RSx this morning. His comments included this: "Tony has done a tremendous job along with Paul and the board of directors."

I agree absolutely with your last sentence, and with others who say what a shame it is that they don't seem to get on. However, I don't think your comments about commercialisation are right - DK is one of the most 'commercial' people around. He made his money from sales and marketing and always had vaulting ambitions for the club - ambitions beyond, some might say, his resources. Typically, it was he who had the original audacious ambition to bring Amex into the fold and who first sold the story of the club to them. The problem is a simple old-fashioned clash of personalities, as others have said. It is very sad - and unnecessary.

I will go to my grave wondering at the amount of stick Dick Knight got, and still sometimes gets on this board, most recently when DK's book came out,
It's not just Ernest's comedy routine, although that's the most highly visible remainder of what was once not at all uncommon.
Discussions of potential named stands, for another example. Personal animus, not just critical book reviews, or opposition to the practice of naming stands at all.

Some of us will never forget what he did for this club, others will dismiss it and heap all the praise on TB. Yesterday was TB's day but I for one would have liked to see some recognition for Dick Knight. Two control freaks apparently so no surprise it went pear shaped and DK is gradually being down played in our history.. Heros both of them though.

DK saved the club, TB got it to the Premier League. Both outstanding achievements and recognised as such. However, 20 years is a long time and there are probably a lot of media there yesterday who were only concerned about the present and the future, as opposed to the past (or at least the people INVOLVED in the past).
