same reason as they dont notice its a section specific to "Ireland and Northern Ireland", they want to believe brexit has been abandoned, when its simply agreement on how to park the Ireland/NI issue for now.

That would be the exact same section that TM tried earlier in the week and was immediately kicked into touch by the DUP then.

There were only ever three options

1/ Hard Border between NI and Ireland
2/ Hard Border between NI and rest of Britain and NI operates under EU rules.
3/ No Hard Border and GB operates under EU rules.

Whatever other waffle is wrapped around it those are the options and we've gone for 3. It's really not that complicated.

It's not about abandoning Brexit, It's about implementing it

Which is exactly the point a journo made this am and Farage retweeted.

Gove fluently explaining how we’ve taken back the control to remain “fully aligned” with a club we’ve quit

I predicted a brexiteer meltdown by lunchtime. The clock is ticking.

I see from the announcement that we are still paying membership fees for 2019 and 2020 but can't see any mention of our request for a further 2 years membership. Maybe we need to change the title of this thread ?

No doubt you saw transitional arrangements mentioned 4 times though in the joint report.

Remarks............."This does not prejudge any
adaptations that might be appropriate in case transitional
arrangements were to be agreed in the second phase of the
negotiations"......

5.......This does not prejudge any adaptations that might be
appropriate in case transitional arrangements were to be agreed in the second phase of
the negotiations, and is without prejudice to discussions on the framework of the
future relationship.

41.The approach agreed in the context of the citizens' rights Part of the Withdrawal
Agreement reflects both Parties’ desire to give those citizens certainty. It in no way
prejudges discussions on other elements of the Withdrawal Agreement, including
governance, other separation issues or any possible transitional arrangements, nor
discussions on the future relationship.

96.This report is put forward with a view to the meeting of the European Council (Article
50) of 14 and 15 December 2017. It is also agreed by the UK on the condition of an
overall agreement under Article 50 on the UK's withdrawal, taking into account the
framework for the future relationship, including an agreement as early as possible in
2018 on transitional arrangements.

Remoaners clinging to Farage for comfort... wow, I didn't expect that

Farage is saying publicly what the public school, odd-ball Euro sceptics are privately. As amusing as it will be to watch The Conservative and Unionist Party descend into civil war over all this, I don't really find it comforting.

I love that some are still confusedly happy. It's genuinely really funny.

So we are paying for 2019 and 2020 and the EU haven't agreed to our request for another 2 years or put a price on it. Thanks for clearing that up.

You can go back to your Really Nasty Porn now

they change some wording and get DUP onboard, presumably briefing them before release. the whole DUP thing was a tantrum anyway. this is an interim agreement to get them to move on with the rest of the Brexit negotiations. we haven't gone for option 3, its there as a full back if nothing else is agreed and there are other options available in practice (the politcs and optics as they say are different story). this is not the full and final Brexit agreement.

They havnt agreed to anything with regard to transitional or implementation periods correct..........but why would you expect them to? This report clearly explains to you that they and us are not even talking about them yet and its something that will be discussed in Phase 2.

So what is our 'full back' if option 3 doesn't work ?

(I don't think highflyer suggestion 4 of magic pixies and laser beams was entirely serious)

Does seem that the EU got everything it wanted in exchange for a political face save for Mrs May and the right to talk economics on their terms.

This is going rather as expected. It is not in Europe's interest to give the UK a deal that does anything more than serve the EU''s purpose and rescue Theresa's position for a little longer.

EU talking about the Canada option. Makes sense but I will need someone to explain to me about how this prevents the need for an Irish border (unless we follow all of the EU rules).

Can you lot come to some sort of agreement. Herr T and others believe its the Norway option thats happening(snigger) you are recognising the EU and the free trade route.
Collectively you lot appear to be all over the shop this morning.
