Left his club at end of January, so would see him only as cover for Uwe as would need time to get back to match fitness

Goldson's heart condition wasn't found until after the transfer deadline so why would we have signed a good centre half to be 4th/5th choice or why would a good centre half have signed on loan to be 4th/5th choice?

Judged on his stats and being only 29 and played at all levels for Norway including 33 1st XI. Plus offered another contract by Molde which he refused.

It was based on his stats and the fact that Molde offered him another contract which he refused plus played at every level for Norway including 33 full caps.

We need cover, he's welcome to join on a short-term deal. Much better option than timori. BFG is injury prone and dunk will be missing three games.

Recruitment in January was fine in the conditions that prevailed then.
Agree with you about the sad indictment of the U23s though.

No reflection really as both Goldson illness and Duffy injury could not have been envisaged. Obviously the U23s are not ready yet to be thrown in the deep end.

In January we didn't need a 5th choice CB. Since then we've lost two top quality championship defenders to potentially season ending injuries. There was no club in this division as well set as us for CBs on the 31st of January.
