From a Facebook 'UK Snow Page', I do hope this materialises

ECMWF shows a very cold easterly developing in around 10 days time (after this weeks cold snap). No guarantees just yet but the cold weather may be extended. At the moment it is three models vs each other. These models being the ECMWF, GFS and UKMO.
Darker the blue, the colder it is.

The ECM has been showing a Scandi High and some sort of easterly flow for 3 ro 4 days now. Initially it was on its own, but the UKMO came on board today, and to an extent the GFS is supporting this. The ECM actually shows a good Easterly flow as +168 hours, which is a week away.

At 10 days it shows a very rare thing indeed, which is a Scandi High linking with a Greenland High - shades of February 1986 there.

Does this mean that a dusting of snow at Heathrow will shut the airport like it usually does?

So trains and planes bolloxed

BBC app now forecasting heavy snow in Brighton between 5-6pm on Thursday.

Does this mean that a dusting of snow at Heathrow will shut the airport like it usually does?

So trains and planes bolloxed

Can I get home from work before it starts flumping

How heavy? is heavy

I'm guessing the reality will be instantly melting wet flakes.

As i said it's too early to be assuming it will snow let alone how much.

Tomorrow's runs should help considerably as the conditions required for snow are going to be marginal down here. It requires quite a few things to fall into line.

That said some of the model output has been proper weather porn :)

The BBC forecast seemed to show a big blob of blue over the south of the country, which I assume is mainly rain Thursday/ Friday. Hopefully, they are trying not to get peoples hopes up for the white stuff in the Sussex area.

BBC forecasts snow for the south Thurs evening rush hour.

I remember a huge dump in early 2013 (I think) around rush hour one evening. Coming home from London there was was massive, fairly unexpected snow fall (for the UK at least) and by the time I got back to Brighton there were no buses running and taxis had given up as well. I ended up having to walk from the station back to the other side of Queens Park in the snow wearing leather soled office shoes which was fun. Got to Freshfield Road in the end and there were 3 buses abandoned in the street! The bus in the middle of the picture wasn't overtaking anything, it had been abandoned.
