After the peace process was agreed, all' IRA terrorists' were released as they were then considered prisoners of war when the conflict was over.

They were still jailed as terrorists. They were still terrorists when they were released as their actions previously were terrorist actions regardless of the political language used to enable the GFA.

And I say that as someone who has sympathy for their cause ..... just not their methods.

The head of MI5 and MI6, for that matter, are not going to give facts to any press representative. It goes against the nature of their job. The article is a discussion between interested parties in what may or may not happen.
