One benefit is a player becomes available but your rivals have a) finished their business buying lots of inferior players early.
Or b) spent most of their budget and now cant compete financially.

I don't see that as a benefit of signing late in the transfer window which is what the question was

I don't think Brighton will have to worry at all about FFP in the pl at least not next season. Looking at teams like Burnley I think they have plenty of capacity
